Hola Roe, por lo que comentas, pareceria un problema de alimentacion, que tanto pueden estar en la placa de Fuente de Alimentacion o en la placa Principal, donde se encuentran las subfuentes
Te envio el link del manual de servicio, controla las tensiones, recuerda descargar el capacitor de alta tension de la etapa primaria de la fuente
Espero puedas resolver el problema

take your plate a part, without desolding anything, reconnect your ccfl's to your invertor , this is how I found that with only 3/4 my monitor ccfl backlights worked. Monitor had classic for 2 seconds and I coud see a windows shadow (I changed my capacitors).my was a kit assembly plate and disassembly easy, light clips and small screws, gentle, movements, set your work bench very clear, tube break, push from the sides where they plugged together always!
I guess from this that the inverter self test check all the ccfl's!
hence the on / check/ off screen (the high power bit, leaving the lower power bit on)

It seems back light inverter board is defective in said symptoms because you get sound in tv but no picture. Please point strong flash light at tv screen to observe faint image, if image is there then replace back light inverter board that is available with shopjimmy.com
And if no faint image found then power supply board would be defective and it is available with shopjimmy.com
