When you first turn it on the back lighting works then go blank? That tell me, there's a problem on the inverter board on the power board. Replace the power board.

check your capacitors cp150 114 120 if any of them is puffed up on top it is bad replace all 3 cap. 2200uf 1`6v and two 220uf 35v. also resolder FBT pinns.

Do not keep forcing this unit on - - This particular unit has a VERY commonly known problem and there are at least five tech bulletins from LG explaining this and other symptoms for the failure. In a nutshell there are coils that have to be removed and replaced with a jumper wire. This is not a repair you want to tackle so please get some experienced help for this one. A good technician will look-up the bulletins and educate themselves on the manner of the repair.
Almost all of the symptoms that can happen are intermittent and can be extremely difficult to verify. For this reason make sure to discuss with the technician that he replace all of the coils listed in the bulletin not just the ones causing your particular problem. Here's a list of symptoms that these defective coils cause, taken right from the bulletin:
1. Channels Or Menu Functions Scroll On Their Own
2. Remote Does Not Function
3. Tv Randomly Powers On And Off On Its Own
4. Dead
5. No Backlight

When your computer reboots, go to the control panel > power options > go to the hibernate tab and turn off hibernation. Then go to the power settings and make sure to change the setting for closing the lid to "do nothing" then change the other settings such as when the computer sleeps if inactive to 30 minutes to an hour. Hibernation is causing the most problems I see with random shutdown etc. One other thing it might be also is overheating of the processor, make sure to get some compressed air and blow out the heatsink vents and grills on the base of the laptop.
