SOURCE: Oven will not heat past 220 degrees

Check your bake element, I had the exact same problem and found the bake element had burned in half. The broil element comes on during preheat and kicks off at around 220 degrees.

SOURCE: kenmore dryer model number 110.66912691 not heating.

Check the house electrical panel for tripped dryer-circuit breaker-pair. Push off, then on. If immediately re-trips, the dryer has a dead short circuit in it. If they hold, then retry the dryer. If it now works, ok! If not, recheck the breakers as above. If tripped again, there is a likely short in the dryer's heater assembly. The drum must be removed to access the heater.

How do I properly operate the Turbo Boil on my new Kenmore range?

Turboboil is a feature offered on a number of Kenmore electric ranges and cooktops. Without you model number it's hard to get into specifics - but turboboil is a special, high wattage heating element that delivers up to 3KW of energy to a specific heater on the cooktop. If I understand correctly, you would only use this setting when you wish to bring water to a boil in the shortest period of time possible - then change to a normal burner heat setting to maintain the temperature of the water in the pot.

Remember, an electric heat element is turned "full on" and "full off" as needed to maintain temperature (unlike a dimmer knob controls a light bulb). The turbo boil turns on a "double heater" to rapidly heat the water - after water reaches 212 degrees, it can not be heated any further (it turns into steam) so you should switch to a normal burner mode from that point forward.

When I press the Bake Button it only heats to 175 degrees instead of 350. Using the temp up Button the maximum heat is 260 degrees. How do I return to the proper settings?

Hello Jim;

My name is Peter. I am a retired Sears Home Services/A&E Factory Service field service appliance technician.

The information in regards to your model number does not match any known range. The model number is on a metal plate on the face of your oven when you open the door.

There are several components that effect the control of your oven temperature.

1.) Is your oven electric or gas?
2.) If electric do you see any sparking on the heating element?
3.) Does your broiler work?

I really do not know what you have. Give me the model number or call me @ 443-306-1362 and I will try to help you.

Oven temp fluctuates

It is normal for the thermal device to turn on and off. Obtaining a steady temp is not always possible. When setting a temperature on some ovens, they have what is called a tolerance point. That means a set temperature has a range of a few degrees up or down. At the Down point, the oven is triggered to energize the coils and bring the interior of the oven back to the settings desired. The other factor is opening the oven and allowing cool air to enter, or in some cases a leaking door seal allows air to enter and heat to escape.

Kenmore plt083-2 won't heat above 200 degrees

Please check that model number again. The one you posted comes up as a refrigerator. Look inside the oven door or the lower drawer.

Tappan Oven #MEF500PBWD heating unevenly

Perhaps the item you are using to check temperatures is not accurate. I my line of work, I use a digital thermometer which records immediate temperature. Perhaps understanding the process will help you see more accuracy in the way you read the temperature in your oven. Allow me to offer this explanation....First of all, place your thermometer near on the top rack as close to the oven temperature probe as possible. This probe is the focal point for your oven and detects the temperature and opens the electrical circuit to turn off the element when the desired set temperature is attained. Set your electric oven to 300 degrees and hopefully, you have a window in your oven to watch. The bake element will come on and the temperature will rise until it reaches 300 degrees. It is at this point when your oven bake indicator light should go out. When this happens....look inside. The element is still bright orange and emitting heat and will continue to raise the temperature in the oven to approximately 325 - 340 degrees. With this noted, you will see the temperature beginning to drop 315, 310, 300, 295, 290, 285 perhaps even 280 or some even lower to 275 and then the indicator lamp will go on indicating the circuit has closed thus turning on the element, Finally there is a variance and no range GAS or ELECTRIC will ever maintain a even 300 degree temperature. The calibration set point is based on the 300 degrees. If your oven light goes off within 20-25 degrees of three hundred degrees, your oven is already calibrated pretty close and I would not attempt to adjust it at all.
