get to the mainboard
there is a jumper near the cmos battery usually shows the
word (jbat) near it , try to change its position for some
seconds while power is off , this way will clear cmos and set the
mainboard bios to default settings.
start the system hit delete or F2 to enter setup then exit saving changes.

Dell netbook mini 1012 aervice tag 76hq0p1 locked at bios need password please help

If the BIOS is password protected and you dont know the password, there are not many options open to you. Firstly, if you brought the laptop from new, contact DELL to see if they can/will provide the password. The only other possible solution does involve taking the laptop appart or getting it to a service engineer. On all laptops not only do you have a normal battery to run it when its not plugged in, but they also have a small CMOS battery which is found on the motherboard. Removing this battery for a few hours and replacing it MIGHT solve the problem as it will reset the BIOS to the factory defaults. It will also reset the clock etc which you will need to correct when you next switch it on. If you are not happy with opening up your laptop, take it to an approved repairer as you dont want to invalidate your warranty or damage the machine.

Hope this helps.

I forgot BIOS Password

Get onlineand got to www.google.com In the google search box type: "ToshibaSupport" (without the quotes and put your manufacturer name before Support). Look for downloads and drivers. Enter your model number and operatingsystem when requested. Look for Manuals and search them for Bios Password or Bios Password Reset.
I searched and Toshiba did not have any manuals or drivers for this model. Must be really old.
Anyway try the link below for removing the bios password.
http://www.ehow.com/how_6795884_reset-toshiba-tecra-bios-password.html
You could try removing the cmos battery.

You will have to remove the power cord, remove the batteryand remove the CMOS Battery that is located on the motherboard. On mostcomputers you will have to take the laptop apart to get to the cmosbattery. On some systems it looks like a silver nickel that you will needa small flat head screw driver to pop it out. On other systems it will beinside a vinyl covering and has a cable that plugs into the motherboard. Once you remove the CMOS Battery, let it sit for an hour or two then put itback in and put the laptop back together. Boot the machine and you'llprobably have to go into the Bios or System Setup because the system will haveforgotten the date, time and password.

Reset bios pts52u-07q01m motherboard

Hello,
There are 2 ways you can reset your bios2_bing.gif.

1. On the motherboard there is a small watch battery. Remove this battery along with the power cable from the power supply. Hold down the power button to fully discharge the system. Wait 2-3 minutes then reinstall the battery and plug in2_bing.gif your system. Your reset is now complete

2. Some motherboards have a 3 pin jumper by the battery. Lets say that the jumper is on pins 2 and 3. Remove the jumper while the machine is OFF and place onto pins 1 and 2. Power on your machine for a minute. (Note: Your system will not POST). Shutdown your machine and put the jumper back to pins 2 and 3. Your reset is now complete

This is a great troubleshooting2_bing.gif step for those of you having POST issues or no POSTing at all. Like other troubleshooting steps, this will not always work but usually will depending on the problem.

Please let me know if you have any further questions or concerns.
Thanks.
