Redbarron, Might be that it could be some other circuit loading down the power supply and the x-ray protect has it in shutdown mode.. First I'd check the following: Cx2110/100uf@35v C2104/10uf@50v C2109/10uf@50v C2101/4.7uf@50v(Located Off Pin #4 Of Icx2100) Cx2107/2200uf@25v C2108/47uf@25v Cx3413/22uf@50v Cx3416/100uf@50v These are common lytics that fail in that unit. And Icx2100 Vert Ic is known for failing and shorts to Ground, Zenith p/n #221-00992 or the generic Tda8174. But if you don't do the testing and repair yourself you could pull the board and send it in to Tri-State Module for a complete overhaul. According to their pricing it would cost you $74.95 plus all your shipping.. Tri State's phone number is: 800-203-7484 Hope this helps. Bill

Sounds like the vertical output IC causing the CRTs to blank you would still have audio and on screen display. Try resoldering the vertical output IC.Thats a common problem
SOURCE: I have a 50" zenith 10 months i can hear how can i fix this
If the unit is only 10 months old, it should still be under manufacturer's warranty. Call and request warranty service. DO NOT open up the unit as that would void the warranty.
Keep us posted on what is found.
Thanks,
Dan

I read in the manual that you can turn the speakers off using the menu command when you connect up an external stereo system. You might want to check if this menu command inadvertantly was set to off. good luck
