The Video circuit is separate and independent of the Video Circuit, thus when the Video blanks out the sound may still be functional. Unless you have the test equipment necessary to trace the circuit and find the faults, and you can repair the board; you are looking at a heavy repair bill. Check to see what the cost of repair would be and generally its more than a new Digital TV from Walmart for $300.
