This is true of all digital cameras. Dim light will cause noise in the sensor that displays as snow. Add light to help.

Testimonial: "The camera has worked fine for the last 18months with the same lighting Thanks anyhow"

Ah - so it is a change, is the sensor clean? does battery charge level influence anything? Same ISO settings as before? It sounds intermittent.

My Lorex IP camera is very clear during the day but at night it has streaks all across it. And the surrounding area is black.

Do you have a indoor camera and you are looking outside through a glass window? You might be getting a reflection back from the glass from the night vision

I have the swann 8 channel platinum cctv camera system and whilst it works with amazing quality during the day, the night vision is almost non-existant, it won't trigger cameras and is very dark on sc

Nearly all cameras work well in the day. Night vision depends on the type of camera and the technology it is using. For example a CMOS based camera will provide a very poor quality picture in the dark. A CCD Super HAD CCD II will provide a good picture with 0.01 illumination and a EXVie HAD CCD II will provide an even better picture with lux of 0.001. You really need to look at the specifications of the camera before you buy and not go with the "Platinum" or hype keywords used by the manufacturer. I have seen a lot of SWAN Cameras which are basically useless at night.

My cannon camera powershotA470 is not taking photos during day time

Did you accidentally switch the the camera to manual mode or to night shots. (night portrait) in scene?
Just chose the little camera logo on the mode dial and try again. If you still have problems I hope to hear from you.

Why is my uniden wireless security cameras look real foggy and cant see

It sounds like your cameras are placed in the window. They will work fine during the day, but the reflection from the window will cause a blur at night. Try moving the cameras outside or away from the windows to get rid of the blur.

When taking pictures at night, i find that its not that sharp and clear. that goes for the video shots as well. how do i rectify this problem. changing the modes doesn't very much. shots during the day is...

Night shots without flash will cause your camera to use a slower shutter speed. This can cause camera shake. To avoid this, put your camera on a tripod. Also, you can raise the ISO to a higher setting...however, too high and you'll get more digital noise in the picture.
