Hello! About 2 weeks ago, the same problem began on my Hamilton Beach water dispenser.
Last week, I called the HB service support, and they told me to do the following reset procedure:
1. Dispense 3 cups from the HOT water side, and also, 3 cups from the COLD water side.
2. Turn BOTH back switches OFF (the ones on the back of the water dispenser).
3. Unplug the dispenser, and LEAVE it unplugged for 24 hours.
4. After 24 hours, turn the back switches ON and plug it in.
5. Leave it on for 4 hours WITHOUT dispensing any water.
...it's been about 12 hours since I've dispensed water again for the first time, and so far, SO GOOD! I'll update if the problems reappear.

Sounds like the fans have stoped turning for the cooling system. If you cannot hear the fans turn on when you flip the COOL switch this is your problem. Pick the fans up at a computer parts store like Frys. Any other part failure on this unit other than a loose wire is not worth repairing.

I have a hamilton beach water cooler with storage cabinet # 87330. The cold water is not cold and the cooling light stays on. What is the problem and how can I fix it? Thanks!

The two round "devices" on the tank are the operational thermostat, and the "safety" overtemp thermostat. It is usually the "operational" thermostat that fails, since it has to cycle a lot and arc internally. It is usually about 120-140 degrees F., and the safety thermostat significantly higher.

Glen,
We purchaced this water dispencer about 2 years ago, everything was working normal, water heater works fine and the cooler would come on and go off normally, until you dispenced cold water and then the coller would cool down and shut of like it's supposed to.
Afetr a couple of years , one day it started cooling continuously and wouldn't stop, I've just shut the cooler switch off on the back of the unit until i can figure the problem out, unit #(87330).
I believe the problem is in the circuit control board, but with out further testing i can't be sure .
