Our buttons always failed because the outlet for the 120 volts was wired using small wire into the spring terminals on back. This caused low voltage as the door started to move.

I'd guess the button inside your garage, is hard-wired to the operator electrical panel (mine is). It may be that the remotes are not compatible with the opener. Some of the newer devices automatically change the security codes on every open and close cycle.

SOURCE: garage door remote won't open the garage door

The little button with a padlock on the wall control is a "vacation" lockout feature that disables the remotes. There should be a small LED on the wall control that is always on steady. When the padlock button is pressed and released the LED should be constantly blinking (indicating the vacation lockout mode is active) and your remotes should be disabled. The wall control will still operate the door. Pushing the padlock button again should make the LED stop blinking and restore the door to normal operation.

SOURCE: remotes quit working for garage door

I had the same problem with my Craftsman opener but different model. However to fix this I simply followed the instructions that came with the opener and reprogramed the remote to the opener. The instructions are in your owners manual and are pretty straight forward.. John

SOURCE: Remote does not open garage door

It sounds like the wall button has the lock feature engauged.

Is there a small green LED flashing inside the wall button?
Push and hold the lock button for about two seconds and the LED should stop flashing. This will unlock the garage door opener and your remotes should start working. You may have to reprogram your remotes and homelink again since you triedprograming in the lock mode.

Good luck.

The remotes for our garage doors work consistently but they are constantly failing to open sliding front gate and keep having to be reset. How do I fix this. Regards Trish

The gate and doors program codes are to much alike.
Reset one to a different frequency that's not so close up or down is OK

Want to reset my garage remote control to sync with garage base

Garage doors will either have a manual sync. On the side of the main unit where the lights are you may see a bunch of toggle switches. These are the manual switches to configure your doors "code" Otherwise the door will be digital sync. In this type you will usually press and release the sync button on the garage door unit then press and release the sync button on the remote.

Garage Master 1/3 HP 1997 Door Working, not responding to Remote

I have the exact same situation, except my model (139.53607) is older than yours and does not even have an LED. Remotes only works after after shop light goes off (5 minutes or so), but wall button works fine. Did call Sears Service and the tech told me the logic board is probably shot. Don't want to waste money on service call so I'll probably have to buy a completely new unit in the Spring and go through the winter without the use of a remote.
