I’ve got a cub cadet xt1 46” that keeps blowing the fuse. I haven’t found any obviously frayed wires. If I disconnect the headlights the fuse doesn’t blow but the mower won’t start or even click but I do have power to the dash. If I use a jumper on the headlight plug to bypass the actual lights it blows. Help?!?!

A jumper across a lamp socket connects switched 12V to ground and it blows the fuse when you turn the key. That would be the expected result and not a recommended test procedure. ; ) Neither headlamp is needed for engine start/run. So I'm guessing the original problem is it won't crank the engine. This would be the start safety interlock which requires the parking brake ON and PTO OFF. If engine cranks but wont fire, it's likely no fuel or no spark.

SOURCE: Dash Lights Blow Fuses

Check the fuses. Look at the Amps given to the lights. It could be lower.

There is a wire shorted to ground (metal) somewhere...check all the wiring for a bare spot somewhere... this is causing the short...repalce the wire and you will be good...

you have a wire that is grounding out, I would check the wire coming from the connector on the voltage regulator to the battery. This is the one in the middle position, look for a rub through and tape it up.

Keep blowing fuse on a lt1024 cub cadet

you have a short some where. could be where a wire has rubbed on metal causing it to short out, may have a bad clutch could be a bad diode, stater under the flywheel may have lost a magnet causing it to short out.

Keeps blowing fuse

There are several things that can cause the fuse to blow. PTO stands for Power Take Off and most likely this will not be the problem unless it blows the fuse when it is turned on. What you are saying is the fuse is blowing by just turning on the switch will be a short which can be anything from a pinched wire, shorted diode, short in the stator. bad voltage regulator.etc
