SOURCE: Acer E data Security PSD DRIVE

The HiTrustDrive holds Acers back-up data of your system, you should have made recovery discs from this when you first had the laptop. When making these discs you are asked to define a password, you will need the password to view the files, if you have forgotten it just boot to a linux live cd and you can view the password, it is stored in plain text on a hidden partition in the following file: /TOOLS/AIMDRS.DAT

SOURCE: how to recover data from corrupted hard drive?

try other usb port, or other computer and see whether the hdd is detected. If still not, try to go to device manager ( http://www.computerhope.com/issues/ch000833.htm ), and then assign a drive letter to the hdd. After that, try to access it from Computer, if not able to access it, format it (use quick format) and then use this file recovery program called asoftech data recovery to recover your files.

CANCEL MY GMAIL ACCOUNT

Important: It is recommended to take a backup of all your important data in the email account you wish to delete. It will be very difficult to recover the data once the account is deleted.

You can cancel your Gmail account by following the steps below:
1. Go to accounts.google.com
2. Enter your Gmail username and password and sign-in
3. Click "Data tools" at the top of the page
4. In the Data tools, click "Delete products"
5. Click "Remove Gmail permanently"

How do I stop the automatic login when I go to gmail. I want it to require the user to enter the user name & password each time.

Pulled from Google's site:

Disabling automatic sign-in
If you're being automatically signed in to your Google Account, you may have enabled either a password-storing feature in your browser, or the Google Accounts option to "Stay signed in." Learn more about stored passwords in Google Chrome,Mozilla Firefox, and Windows Internet Explorer.
Check if the Google Accounts "Stay signed in" option is actually enabled. Visit the Google Accounts homepage and verify if the checkbox below the Sign In button is selected. If it's selected, delete your browser's cookies.
Each time you sign in to your Google Account, make sure the "Stay signed in" option isn't selected.
If the problem persists, you may want to clear your browser's cache and cookies. Please note that while deleting your cookies may resolve the problem, it will also remove your saved settings for sites you've previously visited.

Gmail+google as homepage after unexpected changes

I'm guessing that you're having the same problem as I've been trying to deal with.. I used igoogle as my home page for years... and NOW IT'S GONE... Everything I've tried to replace it with is very disappointing. You're probably like me in that you don't want to simply tell Google to stuff it, because you probably want to keep your g-mail address, and possibly some other things. All Google is going to offer you now is a page with the different Google apps... plus a Google App Store to give you the option of having more apps. .. but, basically you cannot have a Google Home Page as we've known it,... from Google, anyway. I've basically settled on going back to Yahoo, so that I can have a home page like I want. You can, if it's still possible, import your data from most of your Google apps, into a Yahoo account, where they'll show up on your Yahoo Home Page. Yahoo has import options for you to use to accomplish this. You'll need to provide Yahoo with your G-mail address and your password. You'll have to fool with this a while in order to accomplish what you want... but, I consider it, all the way around, to be your best option to spend your time and efforts on. As soon as I'm willing to give up my G-mail address and to redo my Google calenders, I'm going to give Google the one-finger salute and put all my eggs in a different basket.... probably Yahoo.

How can I transfer my bookmarks to a new computer?

The simplest method to transfer bookmarks between computers is by "signing in" to Chrome on the first computer. All of your Chrome browser data and preferences (including bookmarks) will be saved into your Google account, and that will be available whenever you sign in again on any other computer.

Here's how to sign in: In the Chrome web browser, click on the wrench icon (upper right corner), then select "Sign in to Chrome".

1_1_2012_2_46_16_am.gif
Then enter your Google account user name and password.

All of your Chrome bookmarks, extensions and other preferences will then be saved into your Google account online.

Then on your new computer, install the Chrome browser, and again "sign on" with the same Google account. Your Chrome bookmarks, extensions and other preferences will be retrieved from your Google account.

Alternatively, you can export your bookmarks from the Chrome browser on the old computer. Click on the wrench icon, select "Bookmark manager"; then select Organize > Export bookmarks. That will generate an HTML file. Copy that file to the new computer (e.g., by using a flash drive). Then on the new computer, install the Chrome browser, select "Bookmark manager"; then select Organize > Import bookmarks.

For more on bookmark export & import, see this helpfile:

Hope that's helpful.
