I tried to turn on my 4805 projector w/remote and nothing happend, batts good, remote led lights on when button pushed. Then manually switched power off and on, @ projector,..... fan started, color wheel cycled about 3 times in 2 minutes. Then green led power light on projector, began to flash red. The lamp never lights. This is repeated every time I manually switch it off and on. The remote has not worked since. This projector is 4 months back from a factory refurb and has about 170 hrs. since. Any ideas would be appreciated. I have an decent fluke meter and a basic understanding of electricity (auto tech for 20+ yrs.) Thanks John.
That would mean the power supply board knows that there is no bulb filiment continuity, prior to power up. So then does not accept remote signals? If that is true then I would be able to ohm bulb, and get to the bottom of this. I will do that today and post back. I just ohm'd the bulb @ connector and it does not have any continuity, so the $240 bulb is bad. This is bad, but I can fix it myself. I was very suprised to see the air inlet screen on bulb housing completly plugged with dust so the bulb overheated in less then 200 hrs. So projector owners do yourself a favor, buy a can of compressed air and clean out those bulb housings, fans and screens. I will be from now on. did you turn it off or unplug it? not to sound too obvious, but make sure it's still plugged in properly and the switch is on. if the led is lit on the top, it's getting power, so it's not the fuse. if not, the fuse is located on the power supply board inside the projector. if the led is lit and the fans don't turn on, it still may be a power supply problem. if the fans go on and not the lamp, could be the lamp, ballast, or main board. if you need to send it in for repair, try av solutions in ny. they're really good. www.avsolutionsny.com
The 4805 does not have a power button it has a power switch next to the mains power connector but that switch has no lights near it. If you meant the power light on the top of the projector right next to the menu button is yellow that is bad. it indicates that the main board is not working which would explain the projector always being on. also the led being orange means that both the green and red led's are on at the same time (this is BAD) This is not a valid function for the led's. Another indicator that the main board is wacked. By the way if you received the projector less than 30 days ago you can file a claim with the eBay resolution center that the projector is not as advertised/Described in the listing. And you might be surprised when you get your money back! the "NO RETURNS"is null and void if there was any gross misrepresentation or deception in the listing!! i.e. Not as described...
very possible the lamp is bad. Many projectors will not even power on once the lamp burns out. As for the strange noise, there may be something more serious wrong with it.
it there is no high-pitched squeal when it starts up, the colorwheel needs replacing. the lamp won't light without it. the part is under $50, but installation is quite involved.
This symptom can be caused by a few different conditions. Do you hear the fans running? If not then possibly the over temp protection switch has failed. or the lamp cover is not securely in place.
If the fans are running (you can feel air flow) then either the lamp has failed prematurely or the lamp power supply (ballast) has failed or you have replaced the lamp and failed to reset the lamp timer and it has reached it's limit which can be reset by pressing both the volume up and volume down buttons on the the projector simultaneously for 10 seconds. This will reset the lamp timer.
Well a single red blinking means the lamp won't strike after five (5) attempts. The "squeaking" sound if it's coming form the large fan usually always means the Mos-Fet fan speed controller chip has failed which presents sometimes as an intermittent squeaking sound. Which would implies the lamp may have failed from the resultant over temp. However if the squeaking noise is coming from the color wheel that would mean it's bearings have failed and if is is unable to phase lock at reference speed the lamp would also not strike. The odd symptom is the remote thing... That does not fit! If is actually is related to the common cause of all the problems... That leaves only the power supply has partially failed (not too expensive) causing all of these symptoms.
make sure the InFocus is switched on when you do the prefrences or the setting wont stick, also can you select inputs on the projector? ours was a pain as is was set to vga and I had to guess and use the remote to switch it.
