What voltage should i be getting to a engel compressor while its running

It could be low on gas or fault in the starter region.

The only requirement needed for running your "E" or "F" series Engel Fridge - Freezer (The later Models) on a 240 volt generator is to ensure the generator you are using is A.V.R. Automatic Voltage Regulated. Please refer to your generators user manual. If it is an older generator with A.V.R., it doesn't hurt to add an in line spike protector or surge arrestor.

if one side outlet is hot it is pumping. the other side should be cold. It might be short of refrigerant or not pumping. Is the compressor very hot?

have u checked the groumets on the compressor? more than like are bad

You have a nice refrig. But, the safety feature is there to protect the battery. A 12 volt battery should really never be brought down below 9.6 volts. The reason is the battery cannot sustain a lower voltage without damage to its ability to recharge. The cooler cant run on lower voltages as well so it shuts off. It is all based in the science of battery technology. So be happy it dows cut off or you would purchasing more expensive batteries. Take care of your cooler its a nice one.

Only your Engel Service Dept knows for sure.
They see the returns.
Does it have a compressor or is it based on Heating Elements like an RV Fridge.
If you can hear the compressor running inside, you will know. Compressors don't like being tipped on their side.
I have 1 fridge & 1 Freezer in the back storage room that have been running for thirty years. But I don't think they make em like that any more.
Look after it. Keep the vents clear & hope for the best.

The compressor is on the way out and exceeds the current capacity of the 12v inverter circuit. The compressor runs on 32V AC @50 Hz and the inverter circuit is not able to produce sufficient current when the compressor becomes worn. It still runs on 240V circuit as this is a straight step down transformer from 240 volts and is not current limited..

have you checked the compressorpump is getting warm(a sure sign its working.sometimes a little tap works)

if compressor is running, then you are correct in saying no point in replacing stat. by sounds of it you have a faulty compressor fault or a syatem fault - impossible to dignose by remotely. this is not a diy job i'm afraid

I would first check to see if the evaporator in the freezer is all iced up. If it is thats whay you do not have any cooloing. And If that is the case you have a defrost problem and it is not short on gas. If you see only a few coils on the evaporator frosted up then you do have a leak in the system and my be covered under the manufactures warrenty.
