It will just do this over and over. I can access the bios using f8 but not sure what to do. Can you help me? Will i lose any data or software?

this depends on what cpu you have and what bios version you have from asus.
you could download a new bios from asus.

What version BIOS was it previously, and what version were you trying to update it to?
If you were trying to do 1102 and up, and the previous version was 7.09.02 or below, this is the problem. Any of the versions 1102 or above do NOT support version rollback.
My best advice is to download 7.09.02, and see it at least gets you back up and running. If it works, then go for 1102, and then 1803.

Sounds like a faulty hard drive that is locking up the system. Take out the hard drive completely and turn on the computer and see if it goes past the HP screen. If it does then the hard drive is bad. If it still locks up on you then reseat the memory one stick at a time in one slot at a time. If this doesnt work then you might be having motherboard issues.
Try these things and let me know what happens and I'll help you further.
