It means the communication got a little scrambles in computer, Sometimes so much data goes thru it just goes to error code 108. This could because power surge or brown out. Turn power off to inside and outside units for 10 minutes and restart system it will reload and start
Sorry to say, that annoying clicking sound is the thermostat calling for cooling/heat. Whenever the temperature is reached it will "click" off and then "click" back on when needed. Some thermostats are quieter, but all digital thermostats will have that sound. Sorry again and I hope this answers your question!
