Why does the disc reader say "no disc" after I put one in? It played earlier

Not all disc are equal.

Try a different disc. Some machines can be fussy about certain discs. Sometimes the disc itself can be kerfluewy, so try the disc in a different machine, too.

The dvd wont initialize blanc discs so that i can record with it.i have used different disc as well

Do you mean it won't format/initialize the disc? Alternative possible problem, when you put in a disc, does it not recognize that a blank disc is in the unit? Only DVD-RAM discs need formatting. DVD-RW discs need to be initialized. DVD-R disc do not need either formatting or initializing. (This unit does not write to DVD+R or DVD+RW discs.)

In the case of DVD-RW discs that can't be initialized. Check if this has already been done (or if you need to unfinalize the disc).

If the new disc is not being recognized as a blank disc, the recorder may not be recognizing the disc (dirt, scratches or manufacturing issue) or the recorder is not focusing on the disc properly. In the first case, clean the disc or try a different type of disc (Samsung claims that their discs will be most compatible). In the second case, the unit may need service.

I hope this helps.

(usually tracking and focus problems will be seen on both recording and playback (even with commercial discs).)

I have a Sony Psyc CD Walkman D-Ej010 and I will have a cd in there at it will play for a few minutes and then stop and say no-disc. What could be the problem?

There may be a couple of reasons why a NO DISC , DISC ERROR or INSERT DISC error may appear in the display of your CD player. Try doing the following steps to troubleshoot why the error is displayed:
  • For disc players with a HOLD switch, make sure to move the switch to the OFF position.
  • Verify that the disc being used is supported by the CD player. NOTE: CD players do not support VCD or DVD discs. In addition, some CD players do not support CD-R or CD-RW discs that are created by a CD burner. For information regarding disc compatibility with your player, refer to the operating instructions supplied with the product
  • Ensure a disc has been inserted into the player. Make sure that the disc is inserted correctly, with the playback side of the disc facing down on the disc tray.
  • If the disc still does not play, attempt to play a different, commercially-produced disc.
  • NOTE: If more than one of the commercially-produced discs do not play, verify whether the discs are extended-length discs. Some players are not able to play discs where the recording exceeds the standard 74 minutes. If the recording of the disc is longer than 74 minutes, it is possible that some of the specifications of that disc were compromised and therefore, the CD player will not recognize that disc.
  • If the disc is dirty with fingerprints or smudges, or if the disc is scratched or broken, the CD player may not recognize the disc.Clean the disc using a soft, dry cloth.
  • Properly reinsert the disc into the player.
  • Attempt to play the disc again.
  • Only press the PLAY button once. If the PLAY button is pressed more than once, the disc may stop playing.
  • If the disc is still not recognized, remove the disc and leave the CD player powered on for approximately one hour to resolve the possibility of moisture condensation inside the player.
  • Please use a Lens Cleaning disc and check if that helps.

If the issue persists, please click hear to locate the repair facility near your area.

Thanks for understanding. Please let me know if you require any clarifications.

Playing new fifa2010 on x boxx 360. working ok and then froze stating ''clean with soft cloth'' tried this but unsuccessful

Check to see if there are any scratches or laser burn marks on the discs. Scratches or marks on discs will render the game discs unplayable or will freeze the game and will often show a message stating “Disc Read Error”. Best remedy for starters is to clean the discs and make sure there are no scratches or marks left on the play-side of the discs.
Laser burn, looks like complete or partial circular scratches around your disc, also known as “the ring of death”. This occurs to discs when the games console has been moved whilst playing, from an upright to a horizontal position or vice versa or simply knocked against or the wires may have been just tripped upon. Discs are then impaired by a ring of laser burn, which is a circular scratch into the disc. Some home remedies may help with very light scratches on some discs but professional disc repair services is normally rerquired to restore disc laser burn damage back to "As Good As New Condition".

The recorder will not record on a brand new panasonic disc but will continue to record on my older disc. The panasonic dealer insists there is nothing wrong with the disc.Went into 'disc management' on the...

Yes,
In the Disc Management options you should have the option to change whether disc protection is on or off.

Also, if you have one of the double-sided discs - they look like large computer floppy discs and can be inserted either way up into the machine - some of these have a "write protect" tab just like a floppy disc. Check to see if yours has one and whether it is set in the protect position.

Drive can not read CDs..read Dvds

I suppose that you have windows XP. Pls follow these steps Clean the disc - Clean the disc with a disc cleaning kit or by gently wiping the silver side of the disc from the center outward with a dry, soft, lint-free, cotton cloth. Check the disc for damage - Remove the disc from the drive, and then examine the disc for scratches or cracks. Try a different disc drive - If the computer has more than one disc drive, insert the disc in a different CD or DVD drive to see whether it can read the disc. If your computer does not have more than one disc drive, you can insert the disc in a different computer. Make sure that the disc is compatible with the drive -Check the following list to make sure that the disc that you are trying to use is compatible with your CD or DVD drive.
  • A DVD disc is incompatible with a standard CD drive.
  • A CD-RW disc is incompatible with a CD drive that does not support CD-RW discs.
  • A DVD disc is incompatible with a drive that does not have a DVD logo on the front.
Use Windows Update to check for updated drivers - If the disc is compatible with your CD or DVD drive, check for updated drivers that the CD or DVD drive may be missing. To check for driver updates that you can install, visit the following Microsoft Web site: http://windowsupdate.microsoft.comRegards
