Remove inner trim on the door. Latch mounting screws will then be exposed.

SOURCE: Need door assembly diagram to

While I don't have that model's diagram, normally you have to separate the door panels (as shown in the attached photo) and then you'll see the previously hidden screws you need to remove.

Or you can watch a YouTube video (not a video I made) here that demonstrates how it's done.

Normally the problem is not the spring, but a broken spring mounting tab on the door latch head (hook) assembly or the inner door panel.

If it's the door panel, it's usually easier and cheaper to use epoxy and some kind of hardware to fashion a new spring mount.

The door latch head (hook) is easy to replace or repair if that's the issue.

You can order Panasonic parts here.

Frigidaire Microwave will not run unless door latch is pushed in half way.

There are usually 3 door interlock switches on most microwave ovens, which are held in place by plastic pieces which are screwed in place from the front of the microwave oven (although you may have to remove or tilt out the top of the control console to see them). Make sure these plastic support pieces are positioned against the front of the microwave oven, and make sure the screws are tight.

My microwave door wont stay close , how do i fix ?

Hey Abraham Acevedo, thank you for the post!

From my understanding the door on your Frigidaire microwave, PLMV168, is not staying closed. You could be seeing an issue with either your door latch or latch assembly within the microwave. Since these components require patience and precision to replace or remove from your appliance, I always suggest seeking professional assistance. One must be very careful handling these replacement parts as they can lead to potential harm. -Matt

Frigidaire Mod: FGMV174KFB Door won't latch

Good Morning Friend,

I understand the door will not latch on your Frigidaire microwave, model# FGMV174KFB. Typically, this would not be a do it yourself repair, as you are working with your microwave, and there are no step by step repair instructions. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They have been trained on your appliance and should be able to fix the latch on your door with ease. Hope this is helpful.

Door won't latch & lite stays on . door hooks like spring fell off them.

Good Afternoon Friend,

I understand that you are having trouble with your Frigidaire microwave, model# FMV156DC, and the door not latching which leaves the light on inside the appliance. I also see that it looks like a spring fell off the door hook. For safety reasons, when dealing with microwaves, I don't suggest trying to repair them yourselves. I suggest contacting your local authorized technician for further assistance. They will be able to better assist in making sure your microwave is repaired correctly and there are no safety issues. Hope this is helpful.

I'm unable to open the microwave door on model Sanyo EM-S8586W as it appears the spring is broken. How do I remove the cover so I can replace the spring please?

make this steps and fix it. God bless you

  1. Open leverCheck your microwave lever to determine if it is damaged. If it is broken, simply replace the lever to get your microwave door fully functional again.
  2. Door springResponsible for keeping downward pressure on the door hook, the microwave door spring can begin to malfunction. If this part is broken and prevents you from opening your microwave door, replacement is necessary.
  3. Door latchOne reason your microwave door may not open properly is a broken door latch. Located inside the microwave, the door latch manipulates the door hook to keep the door closed for safety and top performance. If broken, the door could become stuck in the locked position.
  4. Door hookIf your microwave door will not release properly, the door hook could be damaged. Located inside the door, the door hook is made of plastic and prone to breakage with extended use or age. As this part is unable to be repaired, the only option is to replace it.
  5. Button or button springIf the microwave door will not open, it could be an internal failure of the button or button spring. If it is determined that either of these parts is the source, both are replaceable and it is recommended that they be installed at the same time.
  6. Handle actuatorIf the microwave door will not open the plastic handle actuator could be broken. Connected between the door button and the door latch assembly, this plastic part could become damaged and brittle over time, which makes breaking inevitable. If this occurs, replace the handle actuator to get your microwave fully functional again.

Frigidaire microwave won't start when door is closed. It looks like the door does not latch properly. It worked 20 minutes ago and last night. How do you troubleshoot and/or fix the switches.

Hello Scott Noble - If I was in your position, I personally will recommend consulting a certified technician first for an accurate diagnosis. Depending on what part(s) is damaged from the door, the microwave could possibly have faulty switches, door switches, or latch which only a professional can repair.
