Advised by Samsung tech rep that the power supply board probably "blew" and needs replacing. I bought a brand new power supply board, installed it (very simple), but still have no picture or sound, although the little turn on/turn off jingle has returned. A visual examination of all the other boards in the back show no obvious damage anywhere. Here's a curious new issue, after replacing the power supply board, the TV turns itself on! Still no picture or sound, but it makes the welcome tones and the red power indicator light lights up. Any ideas?
Unfortunately plasma tvs are a lot more complex to service, instead of 2 or 3 boards there are a half dozen at least. I would guess when the main PS board went out it took some other boards with it. I don't have a manual for your set but I would look at the power supply sub boards, there generally are 2 of them, or on some models that is parts of the other boards. Generally there is a legend to see what voltages are supposed to be present at what places, samsung is good about making the test points on the boards. Also there are fuses on most the other boards and its possible one of those has blow, it won't be a typical fuse like your used to seeing, some are a small green component and some are white mini fuses...Good luck!

Ok here's how I manage solve the problem... Having the back removed opens the contacts on the interlock switch so I guess if it powers up in this state it senses the high voltages are exposed and for safety shuts down... After this the unit will not power up and the power led flashes red continuously as described before…
After some thought it occurred to me that there may not be a problem at all, just be a simple reset function for this condition… I managed to find an easy solution to this… Just call up the hidden engineer’s service menu – On 3rd generation Pioneer Plasmas it’s as follows > Power down the screen > Hold down the “Input” and “Vol +” buttons on the front > Power the screen up and the Service menu comes up on the screen > You don't need to change anything just simply power off and from then the screen should operate as normal…It did for me so I’m well happy now!!
I hope this information will help someone else one day – Good Luck!!…Rob UK…

Hello,
Once the voltage the television is connected to is very high, there is a very high tendency that the board will blow again, and it might not be as soon as you replace the board.
You will still have to replace the board, but you will try to get a board with higher capacitance on the capacitors. That way if exposed to higher voltage it wont get bad.
Also a tip is for you to get a step down transformer for your television or a stabilizer so as for the television not to be exposed to a very high current. That should help reduce the risk of having the board getting burnt again.
The screen only vents out once there is excessive heat in the unit and the fans in it are not working, then the screen can vent out.
Carefully assess all the boards on the television for any bad capacitors, like the ones that are swollen, it is not necessary for them to be bursted or smelly before they are bad, you just have to check for the ones that are already swollen.
Hope this information was helpful in solving the problem.
Goodluck

Repair to plasma displays are very skilled work indeed. After replacing the power supply, certain voltages should be adjusted to get it work properly. If you wish to get more details, check this link.

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes.
Fault at its main digital board. Short circuited component/s at it. Contact any service technician; or the authorized service center. If you wish to get some details; check the site linked here. Pull up older posts. http://electronicshelponline.blogspot.com/ In most cases, the main board might have to be replaced. If so, a software [firmware] update too might be necessary. Do a Hard Reset first, and then check.
Before going further; try a hard reset first. If it does not help you, replace the main digital board. There are two methods to reset TVs. The first is simple to do; a Hard Reset. The other is somewhat skilled; is a Factory Reset (System Reset). To make it a hard reset, just unplug the TV from AC mains wall socket, and re-plug it back after 15 minutes or so. If you do this by overnight is better. This procedure will make it a hard reset. If you want to make it a system reset [Factory Reset]; you have to enter its service mode option, and select the factory reset option. If you wish to get some details; visit the site linked here.
