open the unit if not under warrenty look for a small clear 2.5 amp fuse it may need replacement you will have to look close as they dont like you find such things.
If your OS supports this device ... plug in the power supply to proper voltage ... and connect the end to the device. Use a appropriate USB cable from the back of the Seagate and plug into an available USB connection on your computer.

You could also take the drive to Radio Shack and they might have a universal power supply that would replace the OEM one.
