I purchased a new LA Pavoni Pro in March this year. It is washing coffee grounds out of the coffee basket. It was doing a complete shower but is only showering on one side now.

Do I need to take to a la Pavoni dealer to keep my warranty or can I go to a third party thanks, Barbara

Hi if you mean when you pull a coffee the grinds are coming out of the basket , then my first guess would be the grid is far to fine. If you mean coffee and grounds are escaping around the top of the portafilter then there is a problem with the seal, it could be it is not being tightened enough when you put it in or that it is dirty or faulty. Grid and tamp is crucial with these machines and it can take a bit of time and experimentation to get the hang of the balance. There are videos on youtube and on coffee forums that may help.

SOURCE: no pressure

The relief valve has a toggle inside that is heat activated. This can stick. I found if you tap it with a spoon the toggle will release and the valve will close.

Most conventional showers have brass seats or rubber seats that can deteriorate over time. these will leak or dribble and not maintain your temp.. Rubber and brass seats are a fairly common and easy replacement. It sure beats trying to rip out a shower valve.

Remove the handle by loosening the screw near the bottom. You should see a plastic ring, probably green, that is the hot water safety. Adjust it so that the handle will turn further for more hot water. It most likely pulls out, then turn it left, reinsert and reattach the handle.

Hi if there is Vapor coming from the grouphead when the lever is down then I would guess there is a problem with the seals around the piston and possibly elsewhere. Here is a link to a goos site that looks at repairing La Pavoni lever machines. Good luck.

Hi there,
Yes all you require is a single or double filter basket. This just pops into place and you put your ground coffee into it and away you go.
If you need any further assistance or would like to purchase any of these baskets then please get in touch with myself (David) at [email protected]

Espresso comes out of comes out of spout before handle is raised

Hi there, i am Mr La Pavoni and am based in Glasgow, Scotland. I service and repair these machines all day every day and basically it could be a couple of different things. If it is pre 2000 then it could either be the piston gaskets or the piston shaft has come slightly unscrewed from the piston head. If it is post 2000 then it could be any of the above but also in these models there is an additional sleeve inside the group head which may be cracked or the seal on this part may need replacing. It could even just be a tiny bit of debris on one of the piston gaskets. If you have removed the shower plate and gasket and then taken out the piston assembley then you should really replace these gaskets anyway. You can purchase the parts on my website www.theespressoshop.co.uk which are all individually priced and every part is available for the lever machines. If you require any further assistance then please do not hesitate to get in touch at [email protected]

Virtually no crema :-((

If you have tried different coffees and grinds then i would try different packing methods using a tamper to do so. Try packing very firmly to not so firmly and see if that works. Also you might find that you need a new double filter basket. I have seen this in quite a few machines where the holes in the basket can become very slighty enlarged from what they were originally and what this does is allows the coffee to flow through the basket too quickly and therefore leaving you with poor crema by not getting a good extract from the coffee. I hope this helps.

La pavoni 8-cup espresso

Hi.
Will it go on at all? You should be able to turn it about 1/4 turn to the left once it's on. How far can you turn it, if at all?
I'm not sure which filter you're referring to, so I'll cover both:
1. There is a shower screen in the brewing group of the machine. You would have to look up into the group from below, in order to see it. This should be just a press fit, it's held in place by a big O ring. If it's lopsided, you should be able to just push it back up into place.
2. There is a filter that sits in the basket. It's the one that you fill with coffee. It should just sit square in the basket. If it's lopsided, take it out and you should be able to see why it won't sit in there properly.

Fergus.
