98 diesel Jetta TDI rebuild engine won't start

If it is grossly overfilled it can damage the engine as well as **** oil into the air cleaner and then the engine, on a diesel this can cause a run away engine because a diesel will burn the oil like fuel.

if it does not turn over you may have seized the engine, so in answer to your question is yes..
it is usually cheaper to replace your engine then to rebuild existing....

You're in the TDI (diesel) solutions section so it uses glow plugs.
If it's a petrol engine 2.0L then it would be accessible above and below intake manifold using a swivel spark plug deep socket.

It sounds like a diesel.. They vibrate like ****, it's just what diesel's do. . Otherwise I'd check engine mounts, if they are worn, then the engine could be sitting down on the frame of the car making you feel ALL of the vibrations.

Have someone replace your fuel filters ($$$) and put a bottle of "Lucas Diesel Additive" available at Advance Auto Parts $8
P.S. If you have PREMIUM Diesel available in your area (BP-Chevron) run that for a couple of tanks.
