I have a Royal vacuum cleaner; canister model SR30020, the power head/carpet cleaner "pulses/shuts off for a second before resuming" seemingly under "load", the head light also goes off at that point

if you have an extension wand, the replacement will cost about $100.00. there is a way to repair both the pwr-cord on the brush assemble and the wand, but it depends on how much damage there is. also you need to check the contacts where the wand connects with the handle,and the prongs on the handle.

The sounds like powerhead motor either burned up, or the belt broke and got tangled in the turning motor shaft. Pull the bottom off the power head and look for a curled up rubber band. If you find one, it's the belt.

If it's the motor, you won't hear it running when you turn the powerhead on.

The arrows in this case should point out of the machine. not into the machine. This is because you want the black rubber seal to seal on the machine and force the air through the filter.
