Best to check with your doctor. It is not recommended to apply creams without analyzing the pathology of the sores. You might need a simple diet change and not any creams. Sometimes these are allergies or blood related rather than superficial skin eruptions.

A sore throat can be a sign of infection but isn't always. Allergies, smoke and pollution are just some of the other things that can cause redness and swelling.

You can use lozenges and pain relief but if it doesn't get any better or you get a fever you should see your doctor.
