My vermont castings radiance model 2600 lp gas heating stove starts fine then after a few minutes rear flame goes out and flames start coming out bottom of stove

You need to look at the thermocouple, this senses heat and lets the gas valve stay on. Some manufacturers call it a flame generator none the less it is what keeps the gas valve on. Some times you get lucky by cleaning it with steel wool and position it directly over the flame tip where it is hottest. this usually will take care of the pilot problem. Good luck and hope dad is fine.

I had a problem with the same stove,same model no. etc. Needed new valve. Will replace tomorrow, I will let you know how I make out.

Unfortunaletly, due to the delicate nature of vent-free appliances, you'll find that most are not field convertable. If the vent free appliance were to lose its efficiency, you would be subjected to high levels of CO, carbon monoxide, and could likely die. Therefore, field conversion is not recommended and in this case, not possible. Vermont Castings does not provide parts to convert and if they did you would be essentially replacing the entire unit short of the outer cast shell. I wish you luck.
