some microwaves are able to accepa a metal object others are not.
If your microwave ever came with a rack or a temp. probe made from metal then you can add a rack,newer microwaves bounce the microwaves better than older ones,thus the ability for the microwaves to bounce better.
Older microwaves direct the microwaves to a pinpointed center of oven, so what happens when there's metal in the focus area?
It bounces straight back to the transmitter which in turn over heats.resulting in a burnt out microwave transmitter.

The part you're looking for is Whirlpool number 8204662. Several sources came up from a Google search. Here's one. I've never done business with this site, but their price was the lowest of several I looked at.

Ken, I have the same problem . . . I was told by the company that I need to replace the overn as the inside wall is burnt so it will happen all the time. . . have you found a soultion or heard any differently/?

You will need to remove the rack and all the rack holders.

Any grease or carbon arcs will have to be cleaned thoroughly, and if the metal is charred or damaged, you will need to apply some high-temperature appliance paint, available from places like Wal-Mart or Lowe's.

Then replace all of the rack supports, not just the one that arced.

You may be looking for the philips flat head 1/4 x 28 tpi (threads per inch) threaded bolt that is about 4" long. The tip of the bolt does not have threads, which aids in locating the threaded hole in the top of the microwave:

General Electric's part number for their OTR microwave cabinet mounting screw is WB01X10180 (or AP3205964 or 942461 as listed on some repair parts sites).

A set of three is GE's p/n WB01X10125 (or AP3185225 or 910236 as listed on some repair parts sites).

This flathead screw is used on most Advantium Speedcook microwave ovens such as the SCA2001BSS03 or SCA2000FWW03 or SCA2001KSS03.

The problem that you are having is that the magnetron inside the microwave is shorting out to ground and it will find the shortest path to reach whatever has metal in it. Replacing the magnetron will solve your problem altogether and you need not do anything else different and continue using your metal racks.

its common to all ovens! causes are food spills and oil spills left uncleaned! painting only might fix the problem for a while, but it won't give you a lasting service!!

! you should buy a new rack for much safer use!

keep in mind also to clean the oven after every use! (let it cool first of course!)
