How to reset a singer 8763

I keep getting the dreaded 4 beeps. I cleaned it, oiled it, re-threaded it and am still getting the 4 beeps. The buttonhole lever is all the way up and the bobbin winder is in the right position.

Checking to see if either of you resolved the problem. I have tried all the suggestions too. The weird thing is the stitches are perfect and it sews great. It just stops, does the beep series and then lets me continue about 10 more stitches, then repeats

The four beeps is always a buttonhole level issue... even if it's pressed up, the machine isn't registering it as such. That's the only meaning of the four beeps.

What might have happened is that the buttonhole lever has become detached from the switch finger on the inside. You may have to take the back cover off, and manually move the switch finger to the up position. If it won't stay up, you may try sticking it in place with something like electrical tape.

Singer Curvy 8763 my handwheel will not turn freely and it keeps over heating.

The are several possibilities: the machine might have worn or damaged parts, or it might simply need to be cleaned and oiled. I had the same problem with an old Kenmore sewing machine, and all it needed was to be oiled. ALL machines need occasional maintenance. If oiling is needed, you need to be careful to put oil only where it is needed, and use just enough and no more- excessive oiling might soil the fabric or attack rubber parts.

Needle dragging in bobbin casing. How do I adjust needle shaft?

Basic Tips for All
  1. Always turn the handwheel TOWARDS you (counter clockwise) as turning it in the opposite direction (away from you, clockwise) may knock the timing out requiring repair from a service center.
  2. Always be sure your presser foot is in the DOWN position before sewing. Sewing with the presser foot in the up position will cause your thread to tangle and your bobbin to jam.
  3. Change needles regularly (after 16 hours of use) as dull/weak needles can cause damage to your machine and fabric. Only use SINGER needles on your SINGER sewing machine.
  4. Always be sure you are using the correct bobbin for your machine. Class 66, Class 15 and Class 15J bobbins look very similar. However, using the incorrect bobbin class in your machine can cause damage.

Brand new sewing machine wont stitch. Any ideas?!?!

I'm sure you've done this, but I'll just throw this out there. Did you pull the bobbin thread through the groove that slants on the left side of the needle plate starting from the upper left corner of the bobbin cover?

The thread is loose on bottom of material and beeps

If your thread beeps, you're using the wrong thread!

The top cotton keeps breaking

The top thread breaks
1. the needle thread is not threaded properly
2. The needle thread tension is to tight
3. The needle is bent or blunt
4. The needle is incorrectly inserted
5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew
6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing
7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle
8. Try a different spool or cone of thread

Why does my machine keeps beeping when sewing

It usually means that there's a problem with the thread, maybe the needle came unthreaded or it got tangled or it broke.

Sew for three seconds and it stops and beeps four times. I have changed my needle and made sure it's in correctly, i cleaned out the area under plate (only one month old), checked thread and thickness of...

Some sewing machines are extremely finicky about the direction the thread feeds from the bobbin. I had one machine that didn't care which way the bobbin fed and another that would stop after 2-3 stitches and protest. You could try flipping the bobbin and see if that helps.

Singer 8763 Needle Won't Go Up and Down

read the user manual and if you do not get anything from the trouble shooting section take it back for a warranty check as something may have moved from the material jam

Sewing then beeing then jamming up

The Beep is an alarm telling you to stop sewing and find the problem. Since it is jamming in the bobbin area, you should start there. Remove the fabric, then remove the bobbin and bobbin carrier... clean and remove any stray bits of thread from the bobbin area. You also should examine the needle or change it as a matter of course.
