Why does my Digidor2 garage door motor occasionally stops working and then starts again after 20 or 30 minutes? What is the cause and can it be rectified to restart sooner? Is there a re-set button?

This seems to happen every 20 or 30 open/close cycles.

The motor may be overheating. There is a centrifugal switch inside the motor that switches the start capacitor in and out of the start winding in the motor. If this switch fails the motor draws excessive current thru the run winding and it will cause it to get hot quickly.

Thank you but what is the solution and does the switch reset itself because after half to one hour the door starts working again. regards

The switch is replaceable . It is inside the motor. There is also a thermal switch inside too. Once the motor cools enough it starts running again.

Can the unit overheat from over use. I was adjusting travel when the door stopped and the drive unit just clicked when trying to operate from the controls. Waited 10 minutes and opener worked ok.

Most garage openers are designed to open and close the door occasionally, not to run the motor continuously.

There likely is an overheat sensor that shuts power off if the motor gets too hot.

Avanti motor garage door only works occasionally can hear realay`s click but motor does not run

The relay contacts are worn. Replace the relay first. If the condition is the same , look at the motor's safety overload device.

After setting the trolley limits the opener just stopped working. waited 15 minutes tried again nothing

I think you need to remove the cover from the motor unit and take a look at the limit switch assembly.

My 1/2 hp sears craftsman garage door opener bought in 1992 has stopped working, The motor hums when the remote or wall button is pressed but the door will not move at all. Please help

Most common cause of the problem you describe is a bad start capacitor. Remove the cover from the motor unit. The capacitor is about 5 inches long and 2 inches in diameter.

Garage door only raises about two inches then stops.

Check the door springs and also remove the cover from the motor unit and check the drive gear. The door spring could be broken or the drive gear may be stripped.

The sensors only work when the door is closing.

Craftsman 139.53673SRT1 garage door opener (1997 model) worked yesterday. Today the unit is not responding, the light does not flash, the LED blinks 5 times then stops and then starts again. Unit clicks...

Usually when this happens it is because the door is open and the trolley is jammed against the bolt just in front of the motor unit. Try loosening the chain to relieve the pressure on the trolley and then close the door. While the door is closed locate the 'up limit' control on the side of the motor unit and turn this control 2 full turns in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Now tighten the chain.

Motor hums but nothing happens

I just had the same problem. Extreme cold, garage door stops working, motor hums, same here. I opened up the my garage door opener(after unplugging it), and found that the wormwheel had a wear spot on it. This is the gear that allows the motor to raise and lower the garage door. Any way, after the wife "sugested" that the door was too heavy to lift, I went and bought a new garage door lifter. But if you are handy dandy with tools, I have seen the wormwheel for sale here. http://www.aaaremotes.com/gearsprocask.html It's the plastic wheel that went bad on me. If I would have found this before buying the garage door opener, I would have got the sprocket assembly. I hope this helps!
