Generally the information you require will be written on the bar somewhere.

Pitch, Gauge and Number of drive links. From that you can select the chain you require. The make is irrelevant, but generally Oregon make a full range of chains for many makes and models.

What would cause a new chain saw not to cut

I have seen a beginner set up a new saw and put the chain on backwards?
tip

Changing your drive chain

When changing the chain on your motorcycle, don't just pull the old one out and then remove the covers to thread the new one back on. With the transmission in neutral and the rear wheel off the floor, break the old chain, then using a master link attach the new chain to the old one, pull the old one around the countershaft sprocket and bcak until you can grab the new chain. Disconnect the old chain and you are ready to connect the ends of your new chain.

What size chain do i need for this bike

Why don't you just take off the old chain and take it with you to the bike store, since you have to return your new chain anyway and buy a new one. You don't even need to know the size, because they will match the old chain with the new chain. No guesswork required.

I have a remington 18 inch chain saw ansd the chain has stretched where it cant be tightened any more. I can not find a way to seperate the chain and remove a link. There does not seem to be a link that...

You need specialized workshop tools to break a chain, and another tool to rejoin it (Chain Breaker, Chain Joiner). These are quite expensive items and costs more than a few new chains each, so it is probably more cost effective to get a new chain. It is odd the current chain has stretched that much. perhaps it had one too many links to begin with?

I need to install a bike chain for my 10 speed

Hi
very often you need to replace the rear cluster at the same time as the chain, as it wears to the shape of the old chain and when a new chain is fitted to an old cluster it can sometimes jump, which is not fun if you are standing and pedalling up a hill ( not quite as bad for the ladies)
anyhow remove the old chain by punching a pin out of a link, and lay it on the ground next to the new chain, punch a pin out of the new chain at the same lenght.
Thread the new chain around the cogs and derailleur and fit the joiner, there are some really neat joiners that will just slot together. or you can use the link from when you sized the new chain, just press the pin back through with multy grips, make sure the joiner link is not sticky at all, or it will jump when it goes around the cluster

I have put on a new bar and chain but chain is jamming/loosening

with the chain on the saw and the saw not running, pull the chain around the bar, does the chain mesh with the drive gear correctly? If not, you got the wrong chain or the gear is worn out.

Bike chain broke on my 21speed promax A series MGX,how do i replace it?

You will need to first determine what the chain broke. If it is because of where you will need to replace the can with a new on. If it was anothe reason then you have a couple options. If you want to repair this yourself you will need to have a bicycle chain tool. Otherwise your local bicycle shop can reinstall the chain for a very low cost, less then the cost of a new chain tool.

If you are going to install it you can remove the bad link and reinstall the chain, however this will likely make you chain too short.

If you are going to replace the chain:
1. Lay the old chain out completely.
2. Cut the new chain the same length as the old chain. If using the quick link provided then make sure to cut the chain with two male ends and make it one link shorter then the original chain.
3.Start installing the chain from the rear derailleur. Start putting the chain in from the lower pulley(wheel on derailleur). Push over the lower pulley and under the upper pulley. Then back up behind and over the cassette (gears on the rear)
4. Now continue pulling the chain to the front. Go through the front derailluer and down around the chainrings.
5. Connect with the other end of the chain.
6.Use the quick link provided with the new chain or push the pin back into the chain (unless in is a shimano chain, then use the provided new pin)
