Volvo FH12 2005 truck display shows Engine ECU Failure. what is the reason for this? please tell me in detail.

P1 ,p2 codes are volvo only codes. factory codes , P0 xyz codes are what we call federal codes and are standard.

hi, let me give you some thoughts on your question. In todays comp.controlled hi elec. systems that make vech's. so powerful, milage,etc. when an elec. componet fails it can be a simple issue or a total engine shut down. the reason they have that feature is that is basicly your heart and soul of your vechicle. depending on what is failing in the ecm can make your vech. run bad, or not at all. hope that helps.

This message could have been brought up for any number of reasons and the fact that they are fully computerised makes them very complicated (eg. Sensor failure elecronic failure, misfiring mechanical failure) without the right tools, you will need a volvo vida code reader (check ebay). Otherwise you will have to go to a volvo repairer to get the car scanned for error codes. Note; a independent volvo workshop is generally cheaper for the same thing.

Check battery voltage (engine off= 12V; engine on=14.4V), then check fuses, then connect with Volvo diagnostic tool and check for error codes.

unfortunately, the engine light comes on for a variety of reasons, such as a loose petrol cap, to a major ecu/engine failure........the best idea would be to go to autozone and get them to diagnose what trouble code the ecu is telling you, then solve the problem from here....come back with the code once you have it

The best thing is to go to your local Volvo maintenance shop or Volvo experts to find out whats the problem..usually the coomon ones I think is the programs inside its ECU unit..you try this..ask the volvo experts to reset the ECU and lets see..if problem arise then it is no doubt you might need the sensor..hope this help..
