Howdy SP Le Roux... from Sunday after 4pm... yesterday... West coast... East rim of the Pacific (SF Bay area).

Pretty sure you not here... (USA) We haven't deliberately imported
Renault for 30+ years... although in the 60'ish... I did enjoy the engineering that went into the wonderfully ROBUST Duaphine engine... (under-rated & seriously mis-understood here).

On a hunch... I looked on eBay and found plenty of 2006
shifters... and sure enough... they had those wonderful little cables.

I'd be willing to bet... you have a broken cable... You will need a partner to verify... because getting under a car... and then putting the VERY SAME car you are under can be risky at the very best..

Make sure it is an expendable buddy if you are in the drivers seat... or a DEAR TRUSTED FRIEND... If you are the one under the car...

Better idea: fully secure the car w/jack-stands...
Hoist would be best.

I'm just saying ... Hope this helps!

2006 RENAULT MEGANE 1 6 Petrol Gear Shift Linkage Gear Stick

Just for the pictures... New cables will make your car last another good service life... You will be proud

Why?the toyota 3l manual transmission engage to the engine running but when i release the clutch the is not moving

Even if the clutch has failed completely, you would usually hear some sort of noise from the transmission. Is it possible that the gear selector cables(rods?) are not working, and the transmission is actually in neutral? Assuming you are selecting first gear, and the clutch is OK, then I suspect a transmission failure, perhaps the differential or if a FWD car, an axle shaft stub into the diff.

manually with engine off, then climb inside, start up with clutch
pedal depressed, release clutch, if nothing happens, problem in gearbox, if it takes off, problem with linkage cables.

Can put into gear when running but when i release clutch and give gas truck dont move but i haer a low clunk sound, could it be my pressure plate or gears in my transmission?

if you can put it into gear release the clutch , no movement its more than likely the clutch assembly broken spring in the pressure plate , have you tried all gears also reverse if it goes into all gears no movement or if the sound get worse or goes away in different gear then I would say input shaft bearing , my bet is clutch assembly

1994 mazda navajo manual transmission gears are grinding and hard to shift.any idea what is causing this? it has a 5 speed .

The clutch plate or clutch adjustment seems to be the most likely thing in that it is not disengaging fully. Check the adjustment. There should be about 1" play at the top of the pedal movement and then the clutch should start releasing about halfway down. The other thing it could be is worn gear linkages and joint bushes. Have someone move the gear lever and check for play along the gear change train from the gear lever to the gearbox selector input.

I have a 89 toyota pickup 4 speed. When I'm stopped at a stop light, and let out on the clutch it seems like it has lost pressure. When I'm shifting down the road it shifts fine. I checked the fluid and it...

this sounds like the clutch slave is goin out, this unit is on the outside of the transmission. Possibly losing pressure!! Your transmission does not use transmission fluid, but instead gear oil. Have the following checked:
1. Clutch Slave (possibly worn)-this will cause soft or hard clutch pedal feel, slipping clutch, unintended clutch release, hard gear engagement, no/insufficient clutch movement.

*2. Clutch pedal Mounting Plate (possibly cracked)-this will cause improper gear engagement, hard gear engagement, soft pedal feel, insufficient clutch movement.

*this plate is located above the clutch pedal itself, apply pressure on the pedal with one hand while inspecting the plate for fatigue cracks(use a bright flashlight). This is very common on these models. This problem will eventually get worst and most mechanics never figure this out.

I have a ford escort r reg td,the trouble is the gears is hard to go in to second.i have been told it might be the release bearing.what do u think? CLUTCH CABLE BEARING SELECTOR?

Pretty hard to tell you it's a release bearing without hearing it but unless release bearing is in very bad shape & making lots of noise, it's very unlikely that is the culprit here. Does the clutch disengage properly, as in car doesn't creep when pedal depressed? Check master cylinder & slave cylinder movement, perhaps bleeding slave will help, but if it's only in second gear that the problem is occurring then I'd give linkages a real good coat of lubricant & see if that helps at all.

Manual shift will not engage in gears

hi from uk just out of curiosity ? with engine off try selecting a gear manually by moving the selector link at gearbox from engine compartment if you can feel a selection ? then press clutch and start engine see if car moves with clutch slowly engaged ? if it does? then would suspect the actual g/stick vertical part that fits into the cables gate/selection has broken ? come back with update ? and please give history prior to this fault occuring ?as it would give more of idea what may have gone wrong ?
