The error code 998 is usually for the dimm or application boards read errors try taking the memory out and the app board out and reseat them again.. then go into the service mode via yellow clear button and then enter 107 then hold down the stop button till the panel changes and turn off the copier wait for 5 secs then turn back on.. If you dont know where boards are take the back panel off and on the right hand side there is a box with a steel plate on the dimms Ram..and app boards are there.. Good Luck A..

It is a fuser overheat error....really has to be checked by a technician...
note that any Ricoh tech can also do it as it is a Ricoh machine
