SOURCE: Onkyo TX-SR500 Dolby Digital problem

I just read over the problem you were having with your Onkyo TX-SR500 receiver. It sound like the unit needs to be setup for all five channels.Sence your symptom says the diplay shows Dolby D3/2.1. According to the owners manual with the remote control look for speaker setup whin the button is pressed the current speaker setup will be shown in the display. Press the preset/adjustment<> to change the current setting to five speakers. the listening mode will automatically change according to the number of channels you selected. Hope this helps. SOURCE: connecting a wii to an Onkyo TX-SR607 7.2

I am experiencing issues like this although with a VCR connected with analog video. I added a BluRay DVD player and all of a sudden I lost my video upconversion from my VCR. I am going to try to reset the receiver to see if this fixes the problem. If not, I don't think it is the receiver issue, I think it may be the fact that enorder for video to pass through HDMI, allot of criteria needs to be met. Certain Handshakes need to happen, especially with the HDCP issues. Most likely I will connect a separate video cable to my Plasma and use a secondary input on the Plasma for the VCR signal. You may want to purchase the Component Video adapter for the wii system as this will provide you with at least 480p and your receiver should not have an issue passing the signal over the HDMI output. Good luck and give me an update.

I'm trying to connect my old onkyo tx-sr502 receiver to my panasonic smart tv and my xbox 360 to get surround sound. Any help would be appreciated

Hello, Since the TX-SR502 does not have HDMI inputs you need to connect the HDMI from the XBox 360 to the TV. You can connect an optical cable from the XBox to the receiver if the XBox has an optical output. If not you can connect the optical out from the TV to the receiver. Connect to the optical #2 port on the receiver and press the video 2 button. You should have audio. Thank you, Onkyo USA

How do I connect a onkyo tx-sv535 to a sharp aquos lc-52d85un

Connect the optical audio out of your tv to the the optical in port of your receiver(under the digital in section at the back). It will give you the best quality sound and will vastly simplify the setup as you do not have too hook-up each device to the receiver independently as with this hook up, what ever plays on the tv will be output through the amplifier/HT system.

I have a problem with my TX-SV535, there is no sound when i putt Dolby Surround. The test is also no sound. I have checked al cables and connectors.

If you are getting standard stereo sound but not when engaging any surround option, then the problem is centered around the digital processing section. In standard stereo mode, the processing is bypassed. On some units this too would yield no sound, but with your model, the bypass is external to the processing section. This problem can be as simple as a bad voltage regulator on the processing board to a more elaborate problem within the processing circuitry itself. Without actuall seeing the unit and testing internally, I can not state for sure. This is a decent receiver and is worth the cost of a detailed repair estimate. Get one and report the results here. We should be able to guide you through the actual repair.

Garbled / feedback sounds from powered subwoofer

The surround processing portion of the unit has a problem. In either stereo or direct mode, the digital procesing is bypassed. This could be just the surround processing IC, but that IC may not be available as a separate part. I would suggest that you bring this unit to an authorized Onkyo service center for an estimate.

My Onkyo TX SV 535 Surround Sound wont work

Speaker relays have oxide on the contact points. Open up all the speaker, spk, relays and remove the oxide layer formed on the 12 contact points. Those 3 relays are on the spk terminal board. You can located it easily. It just mounted next to spk output, a horizontal board.
