Northstar electric start 13000 gas generator. Which direction is the gas cut off lever suppose to point to under the tank for it to start?

Is the gas cut off lever under the tank suppose to be straight up and down to crank or sideways for the motor to start?

Sounds like a problem with the wiring of the outlets after the circuit breaksr. Take apart the outlet box and have a look for burned or broken wires, melted outlets, and/or small critters stuck in the wiring.
I recently had to repair a generator that had its voltage regulator taken out by a frog!

SOURCE: low output from NorthStar 5500PPG

There are a few scenarios that can cause this.

1) The extension cord that you are using is too long / too light of a guage. Try a heavier extension cord, or plug directly into the generator.

2) The alternator has lost its "residual magnetism" and may need to be reflashed. Consult Northstar for instructions and details.

3) The voltage regulator (actually a simple capacitor) may be "weak"

4) The diode for field winding may be bad.

You can get a copy of your manual here, page 40 has diagram and part numbers.

My generator wont start. I have cleaned the spark plug. What should the gap be ?

The choke of any engine should be set to "closed" during startups and then moved to "open" once the engine warms up. Depending on the style of your generator, this choke lever may be positioned in a few different places. On many generators, it can be found directly above the air filter on the side of the unit. On others, the choke is builtin to the power control knob (such as with the WEN Inverter series). Either way, it should be set to closed (also referred to as the start or the choke position) when starting the generator. Once the engine ignites, move the choke to the ON/RUN/OPEN position for operation. If the engine is already warm (for instance, if it was running for a while and you are refueling), the choke lever should be set to the RUN (open) position for starting.

If the gas tank is full, but no fuel is getting to the carburetor, there may be a problem with the fuel line or fuel valve. The fuel valve controls the flow of fuel from the gas tank to the carburetor. Make sure that this is set to OPEN to allow fuel to flow into the proper channels. If the valve is set to OPEN but the fuel still does not properly flow, you can do two things. First of all, if there is a vacuum relief valve on top of the gas tank, make sure that it has been opened. Secondly, unplug the outlet hose from the intake side of the fuel valve to see if gasoline is freely flowing or not (have a bucket ready in case the gas flows fine). This will help you determine what part of the fuel line (if any) is clogged up. If there is an in-line fuel filter between the fuel valve and carburetor, also check it to make sure it is not blocked.

I took de oil filter out i connected direct tube i start de it didnt start

Check de-compression lever. Motor will not start if de-compression lever is operated. The lever stops the valves from closing. If lever is operated then there will be no compression when motor is pulled over with starter cord or electric starter operated.

Check fuel cut off at injector pump is not operated. This is how motor is normally stopped.

There must be no air in the fuel line, fuel filter, injector jump or injector. Undo the fuel line at the injector and pull starter or operate electric starter. Fuel should spit out. If not, crank some more until fuel comes through.

if there is fuel in the tank, filter not blocked and injector pump working then if not fuel at injector then maybe injector pump faulty.

If fuel at injector line then remove injector, crank motor and look for spray of fuel.

If if you have checked for spray of fuel and motor compression then motor should start.

Wolf 5000kva generator

Locate where the choke lever is for your generator (under the petrol tank), you ought to notice a star headed shaped screw connected to the governor shaft (if you bend and look closely further beyond the choke lever; still under the petrol tank) which is linked to the carburettor housing/assembly. You need to increase/turn clockwise (using a star screwdriver) on this screw.

Your generator engine sound will change/high a bit because the engine speed will increase.

Reconnect your 1800w chop saw (load) and see if your generator can "effortlessly" accommodate it without shutting down otherwise, increae the turns on this adjustment screw attached to the governor shaft till your generator operates/stabilizes with the load (1800w) connected

Looking for manual for generator...won't start

I had the exact same problem. There a few things you need to do first.
1) Make sure the fuel line knob is turned to the Open position; this knob is located under the gas tank.
2) Turn the power switch to on : it is a little red switch located near the pull-handle on the front of the generator. It needs to be on 'I' not on 'O'
3) Turn the choke lever on: it is a little steel lever with an arrow at the tip. Move the lever in the direction the arrow is pointing.
4) Make sure you have gas left in the tank: it may have evaporated or gummed up if you did mix in a fuel stabilizer before putting it away for storage.

If none of these things work , then you carburator may be full of water and gas lines gummed up.
These Gens need to be started up at least once a month to make sure they keep working properly.
