Why does my (1st Gen) Kindle want me to sign in when i never had to before?

To enlist your Kindle Fire tablet
Access the fast settings menu by swiping down from the highest point of the screen
Tap Settings symbol
Tap My Account
Tap Register
Tip: Tap the Fire Generation 8, Fire OS 5, Fire Gen 8, Register Fire Gen 8 key to enter numbers or images. Tap the ABC key to come back to the consistent console. Tap the Shift key (up bolt) for capitalized letters. Tap the crate beside Hide secret word to show your watchword as you write.
Whenever completed, tap Register once more. Your name will show up as the enrolled client.

Just follow these steps:
1.On the lock screen, swipe from the right side edge of the screen.
2.Enter an incorrect password or PIN (at least characters in length) five times.
3.Tap Reset to reset your device to factory defaults.

I always like to refer to Amazon help whenever possible. I copied their directions for this. Even if your's is not 5th gen it will work. You can also check specific info for your model by logging into Amazon.com Click help, then device help, click on you device and look through the info available.
Many issues with your Kindle, such as a frozen screen or issues with downloading content, can be solved by restarting your device. Help for Kindle Paperwhite (5th Generation).
Press and hold the Power button for seven seconds until the Power dialog box appears, and then tap Restart. Note: If the Power dialog box doesn't appear, press and hold the Power button for a full 40 seconds until your device restarts.

Try swiping your finger across the middle of the screen from right to left. This action turns the page forward. Swiping your finger across the middle of the page from left to right turns the pages backwards. I don't think the icon on the bottom is for page turning.

Registering also allows you to transfer purchases between Kindle devices and Kindle reading apps.

1. From Home, swipe down from the top of the screen, and then tap More.
2. Tap My Account.
3. Tap Register. If you already have an Amazon account: Enter the e-mail address and password associated with your account.

tap anywhere you see 'sprache; zunge' then ta again on where you see 'sprache; zunge' then select your prefered language; English on the list and it automatically changes

Contact www.amazon.com Next to the search bar you'll see Your Account. click, choose Your account from the list and click. Next page, far right column you will find help desk options. follow that to leave a message for them. They can send an email with instructions or call you back and walk you through it.

It's set because your parents don't want you watching stuff you don't need or playing games all night.

3. Next to Wi-Fi, tap On.
4. Tap a network to connect to it. If you see a lock icon, a network password is required. Enter the Wi-Fi network password, and then tap Connect.Note: If you don't know the password, check with the person who set up the network. This password is not your Amazon account password.
   

After you connect to a Wi-Fi network, your Kindle Fire automatically connects to the network again when it's in range. If more than one network is in range, your Kindle Fire automatically connects to the last network used.
