You must be logged in as an administrator and not a normal user to change password.

Windows7 - delete admin user

It is not wise to delete the administrator login, you may need this login to setup new user or change user's passwords.
I suggest you change the administrator's password to a secure password and keep this password in a safe place.

Create and Change Password, Picture and User Name in Windows 7

In Windows 7, the logon screen usually contains a picture that you choose when setting up the computer and a default user name. Since I purchased my computer from Best Buy, the picture was already set and the user name was simply User.
Not very unique! The first thing I did when I got my computer was to change the user name and change my user picture. That is what I’ll explain in this article.
Change User Name in Windows 7 First, click on Start and then Control Panel. Then click on User Accounts and Family Safety.
1.png
On the next screen, click on the User Accounts heading at the very top.
2.png
Finally, click on Change your account name to actually change the user name. If you want to change the user name for a different account, click on Manage another account.
3.png
Now type in the new user name that you desire and click the Change button.
51.png That’s it! Once you click Change, you’ll be back to the previous screen with a preview of the new login screen.
4.png Change User Picture in Windows 7 To change the user account picture, simply click on the Change your account picture link in the second step above.
5.png You can either choose from the default pictures in Windows 7 or you can click the Browse for more pictures link. Once you have chosen the desired picture, click on the Change Picture button.
Change/Create User Password in Windows 7 If you want to create a password for your user account or change the current password, click on the Change Windows password link.
7.png If you don’t already have a password setup for your user account, you can click on the Create a Windows 7 password for your account link, otherwise you can click Change your password.
8.png So those are the most common three tasks when managing user accounts in Windows 7.

I turn on power to laptop and find that i need to enter a password to open window. i do not have password.what do i do? its for an acer one laptop.

11_8_2011_1_12_43_pm.jpgI understood your problem friend its a common problem. You have not specified your Operating system but i am going to explain you for both Xp and Windows7.

If you have such a problem in Xp then dont worry just reboot your laptop and open it in safe mode then you will find Administrator account then > Go to CONTROL PANEL > USERS > Change Current password. then Reboot your laptop then open XP in Normal Mode.

I am sorry to say this but if you have Windows7 then no such a option is available to crack the password. you should format your laptop to repair this. otherwise use password recovery key option.

Thank you for giving me such a opportunity to help.

Help im changing my tx2150ee from windows vista to windows 7... can anyone help me how to do it? im new at this

You have 2 ways to upgrade from vista to windows7: 1- instaling windows7 from vista (this need to insert setup dvd of windows7 while windows vista it's running and choose to upgrade to windows, but this you can do only if vista and win7 are both 32 bit or 64 bit, you can't upgrade from 32bit to 64 bit), but i don't recomand this way because all programs installed on vista will remain on hard drive as a folder and you lose some space on hard drive. 2- clean install of your copy of windows 7. For this before you start install widows save all your data from partition C to another partition. After that insert your windows7 setup dvd and restart your computer. When your laptop is starting you will see on screen "press any key to boot from cd", just hit any key to do this. if you can't see this message go to bios and change boot option to boot from cd/dvd. For this restart your laptop and hit F2 or DEL key while restarting depending of what chipset your laptop have (try both) and go to boot and there you have instruction of what key to use to change option at the botom of the screen. Now i give you step by step instructions to install windows7: -after boot you will see a window "Install windows", here you can choose language, time, and keyboard type then click next -in next window click on install now -in next window you have licence agreement, click i accept and then next -from next window choose custom install -then choose from the right side "drive option (advanced)" -choose disk0 partition2 (usually is second option, just watch partition dimension, if you have more of one partition) -then choose format -click ok in next window -then click next -now your install is started -after restart write user name and computer name and clik next -type a password if you need one or leave space empty if not and click next -write your windows7 serial and click next -choose first option for windows updates -choose your time -if your windows installed any network driver in next window choose were you use your laptop -thit's it now you have o fresh copy of windows7 Good luck!

When you boot up to the log in screen type in administrator as the user to log in once you have your computer running again you have to take control (administrator)control panel user accounts on the users tab, click the name of the computer administrator you can change the password there or if your computer has a system restore you can restore it to an earlier date which will have your personal settings

Remove a small coin sized CMOS battery to store all BIOS settings along with the password. To reset the password, unplug the PC, open the cabinet and remove the CMOS battery for approx. 15-30 minutes and then put it back. It'll reset all BIOS settings as well as the password and you'll need to re-enter all settings.

Under the keyboard or bottom of laptop - If you are working on a laptop computerthe location of the dipswitch (almost never a jumper) can be under the keyboard or on the bottom of the laptop in a compartment such as the memory compartment.

If it fails, then try to remove the battery for at least one hour.
