Hi, so the new remote works? Are you saying that the new remote works but can't tell is the ac I'd on?

Without more information I would assume you have a two way remote that came with the ac, the remote you replaced it with may very well not be, especially if it's universal.

A two way remote operates by sending a code (message) to what it is controlling and the device is exspected to respond usally with confirmation the action happened.
