Have you checked so see if your power cable is the right size?? Is it a 220 or 110? If it is 110 then it will cut off after it gets hot, if it is 220 and the power cord is too small then the machine will be trying to pull more amps than the cord can handle causing it to overheat and shut off.. My husband has been a welder for 20 years.. I'm just passing along what he suggested might be the problem.. Hope this helps!

Testimonial: "I will check the power at the braker. I have welded with it in the past few years and every thing was good until now. I may be having problems with the power cord are the incoming power. Thanks for the help it gives me a place to start looking."

Hobart 250ci overheating, works fine for awhile then overheat light comes on ,shut off turn on same thing maybe longer maybe shorter

See what your duty cycle is suppose to be for that welder. It may have a internal fan that has stopped working to pull the heat out. Some have some don’t. If not add one and it may give you a little more time to weld

My might welder Lincoln 140 mig stops working at higher temp after a while it starts working again is this normal

Your welder has a 20% duty cycle at 90 amps and 19.5v. This means you can weld for 2 minutes in every 10 minutes. It is normal for it to shut down if you exceed this welding time.

250. What causes it to run roughly and lose RPM?

The Miller 212 has a 60% duty cycle. So for every ten minutes of welding the machine is designed to weld for 6 min and cool down for 4 min.

Craftsman 100ac infinant amp arc welder just stopped working ....the fan still runs. anybody know what's wrong with it????

probably over heated and blew the reset button
100 amp welders have a duty cycle ( time in actual welding use ) of less than 20%
that means for welding for five minutes you have to let it cool down for 20 minutes
the lower the amps the longer you can weld for
beware tat the total amperage of the welder does not mean that you can weld for a long time at that amperage
on the plate on the welder is the duty cycle and you have to be aware of it or the machine will shut down

Wire will not feed ,I was welding with my weldpak 100 and it just stopped feeding the wire so I shut it down to look at the next day when I tried it the next day the wire fed like it was suppose to until...

Your weldpack 100 has a duty cycle of only 20 t0 30%, meaning that your machine will weld for 2 to 3 minutes and then you need to let it cool down for the 8-7 minutes, then start again.
If the problem continues let me know.

Lincoln 135 PRO MIG Welder feed stops after a few minutes

1/4" plate with a 135 amp machine is probably beyond it's duty cycle abilites. If you are using a mixed gas, and pushing the max on the settings, it will be cutting out because it is designed to.
You might want to get a higher amperage welder for consistent welding of 1/4"
The 140 Pro maxes out at 5/16" using inner shield wire. and 1/8", or 10 guage with gas.
