I found the solution. After trying different suggestions I finally corrected the problem. The o?l level of the transmission was too low. After adding oil to the proper level the OD/OFF disappeared from the dash and everything is O.K since (8 days). If anyone corrects their problem with this suggestion, let me know please. If your 2008 Dodge Journey is not going into overdrive (OD) and the code shows no fuse, it could be caused by a number of issues. Some potential causes include:
A faulty overdrive solenoid: The overdrive solenoid is responsible for engaging and disengaging the overdrive gear. If the solenoid is malfunctioning, it can prevent the transmission from going into overdrive.
A problem with the overdrive relay: The overdrive relay is responsible for providing power to the overdrive solenoid. If the relay is faulty, it can prevent the overdrive solenoid from functioning properly.
A problem with the overdrive control circuit: The overdrive control circuit is responsible for sending signals to the overdrive solenoid. If there is an issue with the circuit, it can prevent the transmission from going into overdrive.
A problem with the transmission control module (TCM): The TCM is responsible for controlling the transmission. If the TCM is malfunctioning, it can prevent the transmission from going into overdrive.
A problem with the transmission filter: The transmission filter is responsible for removing debris and contaminants from the transmission fluid. If the filter is clogged, it can cause issues with the transmission, including preventing it from going into overdrive.
A problem with the transmission fluid: If the fluid is dirty or low, it can cause issues with the transmission, including preventing it from going into overdrive.
It's best to have a professional diagnose the issue as it requires proper diagnostic tools and expertise, to know for sure what is causing the problem and provide a proper solution.
wow no engine size stated, the 5.2L run a special trans... so....
hopeless to help you much.

here are the OD words off the 46h page
Overdrive Control Switch
The overdrive control switch is located in the instrument
panel. In the On position, automatic shifts
into fourth gear overdrive will occur. In the Off position,
the switch overrides the powertrain control module
preventing a shift to overdrive fourth gear range.
The switch has an indicator light that illuminates
when overdrive is turned off. The switch also resets
when the ignition key is turned to the OFF position
so that the automatic overdrive feature is restored. The use of fault codes is employed to help diagnose
the electronic components that operate the overdrive
unit and torque converter clutch.
Hi EVE , I would suggest you take it to a reputable ASE Certified repair shop ! Do you know what transmission you have there are three different ones for your vehicle along with three different engine possibility's ! It could be the switch or a solenoid in side the transmission or a wiring problem or even a control module problem !
OVERDRIVE OFF SWITCH
DESCRIPTION
The overdrive OFF (control) switch is located in the shift lever arm.
OPERATION
The switch is a momentary contact device that signals the PCM to toggle current status of the overdrive function. At key-on, overdrive operation is allowed. Pressing the switch once causes the overdrive OFF mode to be entered and the overdrive OFF switch lamp to be illuminated. Pressing the switch a second time causes normal overdrive operation to be restored and the overdrive lamp to be turned off. The overdrive OFF mode defaults to ON after the ignition switch is cycled OFF and ON. The normal position for the control switch is the ON position. The switch must be in this position to energize the solenoid and allow a 3-4 upshift. The control switch indicator light illuminates only when the overdrive switch is turned to the OFF position, or when illuminated by the transmission control module.
OVERDRIVE ELECTRICAL CONTROLS
The overdrive off switch, valve body solenoid, case connectors and related wiring can all be tested with a 12 volt test lamp or a volt/ohmmeter. Check continuity of each component when diagnosis indicates this is necessary. Refer to Group 8W, Wiring Diagrams, for component locations and circuit information.
Switch and solenoid continuity should be checked whenever the transmission fails to shift into fourth gear range.
2 Charge the device. Prior to turning on the Galaxy Tab
, plug it into a wall outlet using the supplied power adapter.Hold
down the power button for a few seconds to turn the tablet on.
Let the Galaxy Tab charge fully before disconnecting the power adapter.
3. Follow the on-screen prompts to select language, network, and location settings. We recommend leaving location services on.
Turn Use network-provided time on and select the appropriate time zone. If you are prompted to sign in with a Samsung account, tap
Skip in the lower right. Sign in with the Google account you'd like to use with this device. Uncheck each of the 'Backup and restore' options. Note: Icons may vary from device to device, but shoul
d look close to what you'll see below.
4. Install apps using Google Play From your home screen, tap
the Play Store icon: If prompted to 'add an account', select Yes
and then sign in with your Google account. Install OverDrive Media Console(OMC):
a Search for 'OverDrive' in the search bar in the top - right - corner of the screen.
b. Tap OverDrive Media Console then follow the prompts to complete the installation.
good luck.
First, change your transmission fluid and filter while the engine and tranny are hot(to get out particles that may be jamming the overdrive gear)! Next, check to see if the overdrive motor is running when you flip it to overdrive. If not...change the overdrive motor.
The D inside of an O is for overdrive. It is an automatic overdrive transmission. There isn't an overdrive button on it. If you want to disable the overdrive you have to shift down a gear.
look in the overdrive cable see if its atatched and working if theres no overdrive cable if the overdrive sensor light is on than it could be an overdrive sensor.
Tum the overdrive switch on for good fuel
economy and smooth driving. If engine braking
is needed in the "D" range or if repeated
upshifting and downshifting between the 3rd
and 4th gear is needed when climbing a
gentle slope, it is recommended that the
overdrive switch be tumed off. Tum the
overdrive switch back on immediately afterward.
When the overdrive switch is tumed on, the
transaxle will automatically upshift to the second,
third and overdrive gears. When the overdrive
switch is tumed off, the transaxle will not
upshift to the overdrive gear. For normal driving,
the selector lever should be left in the "D"
position and the overdrive switch tumed on.
If you need to accelerate rapidly, press the
accelerator pedal all the way to the floor. The
transaxle will automatically shift to a lower gear,
depending on the vehicle speed and load.
