Depends on your connection. If it's a red, blue and yellow. Check the yellow and make sure it in the right spot. Give the wire little wiggle at both ends. Check for a short. Also. Check that you have them in the inputs. You'll be surprised on how often that little mistake happen even to the best of us. (Outputs to inputs and inputs to outputs) lol. This work with composite too. Now if its an hdmi connection. Try giving the connection little wiggle. It might be getting a bad contact. Or if you repeatedly disconnect you could of worn-out the connection and/or cable. Oh if rca can also get worn-out to.

How do I fix a black screen with sound working and LED light on.

Unplug the set and let it stand for two minutes. Plug it back in and see if it works. If that doesn't work contact Philips support: http://www.support.philips.com/support/contact/contact_page.jsp?userCountry=us&userLanguage=en

42" LG Plasma tv, no picture - black screen, but have sound.

Most a likely a problem with your Y-Sustain board which will then not drive the screen giving a black picture. The fuse on the board may be open circuit & need replaced but most likely you will need to have the sustain board replaced.

Picture sixe reduced and picture breaks up with converter box

You can change the way the channels can be displayed/viewed by a video setting, consult manual. When pic breaks into pixels and sound goes it's usually a reception problem so you'll have to adjust the antenna facing a direction that makes that channel come in clearly. It helps to experiment with positions and antennas.

How to get rid of a black screen on my tv. sound is ok

If you mean that you get a black box, with a little of the picture visible around the edges, then your closed captions are on and set to TEXT. This puts a black box on the screen about 10 seconds after changing the channel. Go into the menu and turn off the closed captions and the picture will be back to normal.
