Had the same thing today. Iwas playing with the auto demonstration of on screen displays. Press and hold the power button (5 seconds) on the TV. The auto display will play. Press the power button again (TV will go off). Turn power on again. you should now have the picture back

It should say HDTV on the bottom left corner of the tv if it is HD ready.

Hitachi 53" rear projection is losing its picture.

If you are not experiencing any shift in colors, it sounds like the power supply is failing since this will affect all three colors.

Try resetting the TV by unplugging it from the wall. Plug back in after 5 minutes. If, no fix; call for An Authorized Service Center and have come out and give you an written estimate B4 repairs, most repairs on PJTV's avg $525.00. Good Luck, big IRISH.
