Harman kardon CDR 26 cd recorder

My recorder has not been used very much, but now my player drawer does not open. The recorder drawer does.
When I push the open button, I hear a sound like it is trying to open but it does not.
What should I do???

I have the same problem, although it's the recorder drawer that won't open. It sounds like it's trying to open, but it won't. I used to have the same trouble with the other drawer, but usually if I just pulled at the drawer with my fingernail while pushing the "open" button, it would open. Now that the recorder side is doing the same thing, I tried pulling on it as I pressed the "open" button, and it started to come out, but now it's jammed and I can't get it to close properly. Help please!

sorry, the drive is a worm, with its own motor. my problem is I can't get the tray/drive out; it looks like you would have to take off the faceplate (what you see from the front of the machine), but I can't tell because I can't get the tray to open at all.

I apologize, I was wrong, the tray is operated by a rubber band/belt (the worm is for positioning the laser). Replacing the belt requires taking the tray out. Gettting the HK tray mechanism out requires removing the faceplate, which slides upward out of the tray. This is easy enough if the tray is even partially open, but impossible if the tray is locked closed. I was unable to force the tray open against the belt. The last step in closing the tray raises the drive against the CD. This is done by a slide the moves crosswise from right to left on the underside of the tray holder (facing the front of the CD player). With the tray loose it is possible to reach underneath and push this slide left. Force is not needed, but firmness is. The slide is located close to the right edge and close to the front of the tray.

Once the tray is out the belt can be replaced from the top through the cutout in the tray. I had to remove several ribbon and plug connectors for each tray, more for the one on top of the motherboard.

The player door will not open. How do you get it open to change the belt? Where can I get a new belt?

It's the belt from the spindle motor to the gear. It's worn and can't grip the spindle anymore. If you elp it to start off it works. Open the unit, remove the cd tray and it's underneath at the front. You can replace with a similar size elastic band.

try plugging the HK30 out to R2R in, R2R out to RECV in...RECV (you may need 2 rca "Y" connectors) tape out back HK30 & Cass

the "Y" connector needed is (2) 2 female to 1 male (connect both HK30 & Cass deck)

Describe your Harman Kardon CDR30 2-Disc CD Recorder Problem It's a CDR26 and neither of the drawers will open.

With mine, it was the drive belts for the cd drawers, which were stretched and rigid. Open the case. Remove the 4 screws that hold down each cd drive. Push the drives out enough so you can pull the silver facing off the sliding try by pulling it up. Now you can lift out the cd drives, removing all the connectors as you go. Flip the white plastic slider underneath each drive and you can mechanically open the slide tray. This reveals the little motor and rubber pulley belt that operates the slide tray. If the belts are broken, perished, rigid or something, get something similar from your local electronics parts store (a couple of bucks each belt), and reassemble.

Does anyoe know how to record from LP to cd?

Use your tape out, or another line out signal from your preamp.... if possible - OR Sometimes you can pull out some connectors on the back of your amp (a Metal joint kindathing ;), to break signalpath between preamp and poweramp if its an integrated amp -
Use preamp out signal to feed your cdr ( Main purpose is to equalize out, the RIAA correction on a record)
Have you tried to google your question ? Lots of fine guides out there!!!

Recording audio only from an HDTV concert

Have a look at the manual for your AV receiver, you may find that you can change the digital output format between DTS mode and PCM(audio) mode. It needs to be in PCM(audio) mode for your CD recorder to be able to record digitally. If that doesn't solve it I can only suggest recording in analogue mode, i.e. taking a stereo analogue signal from your receiver to the analogue inputs of your CD recorder.

Hope this helps

Blank cds don't work

Are you using cds labeled music? These are formatted for cd audio home recorders. Data cds for computers will not work. If in doubt, usually on the packaging it states for home audio.

HARMAN KARDON CDR-26 CD RECORDER/PLAYER

You need to clean the laser lense, if that doesn't work you need a new laser pickup. Check first, but from memory you need a sanyo sfp151 17 pin laser. Costs around $25.
