Will Harman Kardon HK 206 speakers work with Windows 8
I just purchased a Dell XPS 8500 with Windows 8 and decided to keep using my old Harmon Kardon HK 206 speakers because I'm quite satisfied with these speakers. When I hooked them to my new PC, Windows 8 recognized them right away. The speakers work great on my new PC. Try going to the Control Panel and see if your speakers were recognized. (On my PC they're referred to as "Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio). That's due to the default drivers in Windows 8. As long as you see speakers in the control panel, you should be OK. In that case you should check your connections. If you don't see speakers in the control panel, go back one screen and select add a device and let Windows 8 scan for any device that it hadn't recognized before.

One Speaker no longer works,
Hi !
Most of the time there isn`t any problem with the speaker but with the cable connecting the 2 speakers .Try to listen some music and move the cable a little and maybe you`ll hear the sound coming out from the dead box .
The cable is not that hard to be replaced but you will need a new cable and a soldering tool, ( or someone who has one )
But the majority of the people are just buying a new set a speakers when one brokes because these are one of the cheapest parts that can broke on a computer...same for the mouse or keyboard , a good specialist can still fix it but it doesn`t worth it if you can afford new ones.
Hi, I want to install
Hello,
connect the green jack of the speaker to the headphone port of your laptop. Connect the speaker to power and turn it on.
If you bought the HK 206 speakers brand new, there should be a driver (CD). But if you don't find a driver, that's no problem.
If there is no sound, please let me know for further assistance.
Regards.
My left speaker does not function. That's
try swapping the speakers around if the problem still persists either the speaker is faulty or
the speakers plug/outlet is usually at the back of the computer you will have to open up the computer to check the lead attached to the rear of the input plug make sure the connection is good
or you might have to clean the dust from your computer dust causes static which causes your computer to overheat and all sorts of problems
be sure to wear an anti static earth strap before touching anything inside your computer try cleaning your computer of dust using a fine air blower from a compressor making VERY sure that there is no MOISTURE in the air line specifically around the CPU central processing unit and your SOUND CARD dust causes static to build up in a computer causing it to overheat any many other problems
hope this helps you

What size power adapter does it use?
You need a AC to DC power supply capable of supplying 120VAC in, 12VDC out @ 1 amp (1000 mA). The center of the plug must be + and the outside -. I believe Dell supports these speakers and may have the power supply available. Radio Shack might have a substitute PS as well, you just have to match the plug size. Be careful what you pay for it, a new pair of these speakers can be purchased for around $20.
Here is a 12v 1500mA adapter (the mA rating can be higher that what you need, but not lower) from Radio Shack

Will Harman Kardon HK 206
since they are stereo they should have not issue. just connect the 3.5mm jack to your output port typically the green audio jack.
