My ford tauras has not been used in almost 3 yrs. not been started at all, just sitting in the drive way. Is the motor or tranny rusted shut now? Should I sell it for scrap or tow it to a shop to have it looked at?

When transmission sit for long periods ,the oil drains of the exposed gears and they rust.
they will probably turn ok but then noise sets in from the rusted parts , bearings will be part rusted, seals will be hard and will start to leak
cylinder walls will be rusted and rings may break on start up as they attempt to scrape the rust off
Consider this
The car is well past it's use by date
It will cost more than what it is worth to repair
The condition of the body ( rust etc) has to be considered
The choice is yours but personally I would junk it and if I needed another car , get something much younger where I could get parts

Change tranny fluid 1993 Chevy pickup drive only gear now

You may need a trans shop to take a look. Often times changing the fluid and filter on a vehicle thats over 15 yrs old causes more problems than it solves. Draining the fluid and changing the filter removes particles that were keeping the clutches and bands working. Something could have clogged up one of the ports on the valve body too.

Car shakes and jerks

If it was a coil it would read "service engine" after about two weeks of driving. I would replace the motor mounts.

Total rust underneath real bad that the rust is crumbling bought it secondhand sisters boyfriend said it was good car took his word gave him 1000 my question is it repairable & rough idea what it...

this is fairly common in places with alot of snow and ice in the winter as well as anywhere there is an excessive amount of salt in the air or on the road (the coast) as for being repairable, if the car is crumbling the most feasible option would be to find a junker that needed a motor or tranny and swap them out, that is of course if the motor and tranny in your car are good. or you could always drive it till it starts to fall apart but that's probably not the best idea... use your best judgement.

2000 Ford windstar will not restart after shut off from running

Mine only flashes when I start the engine. Once I place it in drive it stops and operates normally. This includes up and down shiftsing. If I place the tranny uner a load when the light is flashing (it flashes for about 10 secinds then it will chatter.
Maybe its a clogged transmission filter? Obviously is a fluid pressure problem. I drove it 5000 miles with this problem and it seems to not affected the tranny. Some folks talk about the Neutral Start switch. with 185K and a rebuilt tranny at 120K I am not going to invest $3000 to replace it
