Pull the gas line off the carb and into a container then turn it over to make sure gas is actually getting to the carb continuously. If not most likely the rubber hose could be deteriorated inside and bits of rubber are clogging the hose and the carb. If gas feed is fine, your carb float could be bad, or needle and seat stuck closed, plugged etc. Probably time to rebuild the carb.
Testimonial: "I pulled the line off and turned it over and have gas to the carb. Must be the float, thanks. it only has 44 hours since new but is several years old now. Thanks"
My low hours 302 Trailblazer did the same thing and as it turned out, to be the fuel shut-off solenoid was stuck closed. A quick clean and it was running again in 20 minutes.
