Please check whether the DVds that you're attempting to play are from a certain range of time (ie 10 years ago). If so, please attempt to play newer dvds. Or play older dvds if it's the opposite case. It might just be that the product itself is outdated if it's only playing dvds created a long while back.
You can't change the DVD coding. That part is how the DVD is recorded. However, your Mac will play DVDs from another region. It just typically defaults to one region. I have deleted the DVD player software (and preferences files) before and reloaded it to play DVDs from another region. If you plan to regularly play DVDs from multiple regions, you might want to look for special DVD software that will read DVDs from multiple regions.
The home recorded dvds disc have diffrence finalizing codes,that the Panasonic dvd recorder doesn't share those codes.That why u can't play those home recorded dvds discs.
if u have placed the correct drive then it should work if not try with installing realtek driver .even after all that it does not work then your audio chip is not working u can get a audio adapter for that
Are you trying to watch a DVD movie? If so, you need a third party DVD software installed like WinDVD,PowerDVD or any other DVD player software. I would recommend VLC media player. It supports most all formats.
sound like your laser has failed you can get another on off ebay but with them being bluray there about 70quid. If your compitent with things like this you can do it yourself

you might need to check to see the format of the dvd that you are trying to play ie dvdr vice dvd some devices will not play them if the format of the cd is wrong
