You should fix this problem by inserting the PUK code that was given to you by your broadband provider/Sim Package. This is a security code.

No you dont need to buy an unlock code if you simply forgot your password code, all you must do is do a hard reset on the phone. and yes you can use it prepaid or with whatever plan you want, all you do is insert your tmobile sim card, i have a flex account with tmobile and i just inserted the sim card, You dont have to contact tmobile.

Hold the Home and Power keys down at same time for about 25 seconds. You will see a yellow triangle screen with exclamation point in the middle.Now to wipe the device clean:

Press Alt+L. Press Alt+W for a factory reset.
Press the Home and Back keys again for about 25 seconds.
The device should then reset again and the hard reset is complete.

Your best bet for you would be to ring t mobile and ask them to unlock it for you. Then you know its been done, its free and its correct.!

When a foreign or different compatible sim is inserted your phone will ask for the unlock code if your phone is locked. When you have an unlocked phone it automatically accepts the sim and does not ask for the unlock code since your phone is unlocked.
