We've got a Jenn Air side by side. For the past few months the water in the drain pan has not been evaporating and occasionally overflowing onto the kitchen floor. The drain pan is full of water, all the time. I can confirm that the drain pan is not cracked. At first we thought it was just because the weather was too hot and humid, with winter approaching, the problem is still occurring. Ive looked underneath and cannot see any heater or piping in the drain pan, but haven't taken it apart yet. Ive done some research, and there is minimal air flow under the fridge (could this be it?). The fridge and freezer temp seem fine. The compressor doesn't appear to be operating excessively. Can anyone help me out here.
Thanks.
Refrigerators use different methods to eliminate the water, but they all use evaporation of some sort. This works,as most of the water in the drain pan comes from melted ice on the evaporator coil during the defrost cycle, and this is not very much. It sounds like you have excessive water in the pan. You stated the freezer/fredge is working properly. The condenser fan is running, I assume. Cleaning the dust off the coil will help the air flow. Most residential units do not have heating element in the drain pan. Your problem sounds like you are getting too much water in the pan. Have you noticed excessive ice in the freezer? Are the door gaskets in good shape. Does the unit have water and ice in the door? If so, where does the drain to, and has there been high usage of this?

After some disassembly and troubleshooting, it turns out that the condenser fan was not working. We'll replace the fan and move on. The fridge is designed with no heater in the drain pan. When the fan stopped working, it lost the only mechanism to evaporate the water. thanks for the help!!!
