Need a source for a user manual for a bellsouth answering machine model 1188.
Found my manual!
To set the time, press and hold the time/code button for 2 seconds. You will hear "TO SET CODE PRESS TIME AND CODE BUTTON."
Release the time/code button.
Press the 2 way/m button once. You will hear "SET DAY AND TIME, SUNDAY"
Press the << or >> button until you hear the correct day.
Press the time/code button once. You will hear "TWELVE"
Press the << or >> button until you hear the correct hour.
Press the time/code button once. You will hear "OH".
Press the << or >> button until you hear the correct minutes.
Press the time/code button once. You will hear "PM".
Press the << or >> button if you need to change to AM.
Press the time/code button once and you will hear the complete time and day setting.
To record an outgoing message, press and hold the ogm button. Release the ogm button and start to record after you hear "PLEASE RECORD AFTER THE TONE" followed by a beep tone. When finished, press the ogm button.
Make sure you put a battery in the answering machine so you don't lose these settings if the power goes out!

Just push 3 to erase messages and 1 to play them

Sorry I hit the wrong button having the same trouble. I can set time and date but when it comes to outgoing message I done it before, I can't remember how. When I find out I'm writing it down. Sorry again, this is not a solution it just adds to the problem

The computer generated man says to record message at the tone! Well, I don't get a tone....Pls. advise.

I have a Bellsouth digital answering system, model no. 1188. I need to know how to check my messages while away form home, how to delete some, skip some, and such.

Thanks Bell South for making a terribly un-user friendly machine! I just wasted half an hour pressing every combination of buttons and that stupid voice just kept repeating the same date and time to me. I cannot believe these engineers and designers spent thousands of dollars and years in school to create such a piece of **** message machine that I can't even set the date and time on it. May you be cursed to have to waste as much time as we've all spent trying to figure out your pathetically designed machine.
