Why are my batteries only lasting about a week

Either the batteries that you put in as new were already on their way out or you have a current drain that is depleting the battery. Use an ammeter to determine when guitar is off if there is any drain on the battery. If so, that is the culprit.

Do you mean that it goes dead after sitting a week or goes dead after a week while driving it?

You need a new remote sent to you. This is the only fix for this issue. Thanks for using fix ya.

Charge the battery using the supplied USB cable. The salesperson meant that the battery would last for years before it will no longer take a charge and need to be replaced.

it might need reprogramming depends how long u took to replace the battery.

You should send the camera with the battery for service to find out if there is a defect on any internal circuit boards, or if the fault is actually the battery. There is no reliable way for you to determine this yourself, unless you have the proper setup and training to service these cameras.
