After installing the light blinks when on. Tried reversing wires and this did not work.

You posted under Woods 59018 timer.

1) This timer is made to replace single pole switch only.

2) If lights are blinking, then wiring is suspect. Probably the red and white are connected together.
Open following link to confirm this is your timer and read ez wiring steps and see on-line manual.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Woods-timers-and-manuals.html#59028
The wiring steps work for all brands of in-wall 7-day timer except those timers that can be used for 3-way switching.

3) Page also lists timers that can be used for 3-way switching, for example in hallway where 2 different switches control same light. List of timers has links to each timer and manual.

Model ST01 to be used on a 3 way switch arrangement. Unit works in one switch position but fails to allow light to turn on in other switch position. Several other switches are adjacent in same box and...

You have ST01C timer.
If I understand correctly, timer is wired for 3-way and was working fine before.
Now, the timer is no longer letting the 2nd 3-way switch operate.

I tested this timer.
When the red and blue wires on timer are connected, the timer reverses.
When the red and blue wires are disconnected, the timer reverses back.
So the 2nd 3-way switch merely connects and disconnects the red and blue wire on timer.
This is why wiring is different on 2nd 3-way switch, and not like ordinary 3-way wiring.
http://waterheatertimer.org/images/ST01C-EJ500-w-3-way-450.jpg

This means that a) Timer has gone bad or b) 2nd 3-way switch has gone bad.

1) Replace 2nd 3-way switch

2) ST01C instructions say as last resort, reset timer.
However all timer programs will be lost.
Open following link to read steps for resetting and reprogramming timer, plus wiring diagrams.
http://waterheatertimer.org/ST01C-program.html

3) Replace timer

Is it possible to connect a digital timer(4 wires) to lite fixture with two switches? The switch I am trying to connect to is three pole and a ground

If I understand correctly, your switch has 3 poles, which makes it a 3-way switch.
You confirm this by saying light fixture has two switches.

There are two brands of in-wall timers that will work in 3-way situation. Intermatic and Aube. But only specific models of these timers work for 3-way.

The Intermatic EJ500 and ST01C battery-operated timers can work with 3-way switch. But wiring is tricky to impossible in some cases without extra wiring.
http://waterheatertimer.org/ST01C-program.html#ST01C

The easiest timer to wire for 3-way switch is Aube model T1032 which is a 500 watt timer.
http://waterheatertimer.org/Aube-timers.html
T1032 manual:
http://waterheatertimer.org/Aube-T1032-timer.pdf
geno_3245_147.jpg
Look at the wiring diagrams carefully.
Note that you are replacing one switch with the timer.
The second switch needs additional jumper wire added to circuit between dark-colored screw and the brass-colored screw that connects back to #1 wire from the timer.

Add a comment if you have this timer, or buy this timer, and need help with wiring.

My ge smart digital timer has been installed for over a year now and it just stopped working. the screen is blank. any ideas about what is going on with it

ae8e448.jpg
The GE digital timers are powered by the electric circuit.
A wire could have come loose inside the box.
The circuit breaker tripped.
A loose wire in the box proceeding the switch box (each box is linked to the next box as the wires trace back to the circuit breaker)

Try replacing timer with ordinary switch or test for power inside timer box.

These timers come with 1 year limited warranty.
If your load (lights fan motor) is close to wattage capacity of timer, the timer gets warm and doesn't last as long.

I am wiring a 7 day timer and I found that I have 3 way switches. How do I hook these up?

Open following link to identify timers that work with 3-way.
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#15071

If you have ST01C timer and are connecting to three-way, then open following link:
http://waterheatertimer.org/ST01C-program.html#ST01C

ALL timers that work with 3-way switching will replace 1 of the two 3-way switches.
The remaining 3-way switch wiring must be altered so the timer works.
The reason is this:
The 3-way timer has extra wire, and when electricity flows to that wire, it reverses program status of timer, so ON becomes OFF for example, or OFF becomes ON..
The remaining 3-way switch is wired so it will send power back to the extra timer wire that reverses the timer program.
So the remaining 3-way switch performs a different function when 3-way timer is installed.

How do you wire a digital in-wall timer to a 3-way circuit?

First, the timer has to rated for 3-way application.
Not every timer works for 3-way.
Open following link for some timers that work for 3-way application.
http://waterheatertimer.org/GE-timers-and-manuals.html#15071

Next thing is to read instruction manual carefully.
Since 3-way switches come in pairs, the timer replaces one of the switches, and then the other switch remains.
Some timers can replace either switch, and some timers can only replace the switch that receives hot from breaker.
In all cases, the remaining 3-way switch must be rewired to accommodate how the timer works.

Can GE Digital Timer model 15086 be used for two way switch?

GE 15086 can replace single pole switch only.

Wiring with another 3-way switch, works when other 3-way switch is on, clicks on/off when other 3 way switch is off

When installing a digital timer switch into a 3-way lighting circuit, you typically have to install a jumper wire across the "travelers" on the 3-way switch at the other end of the circuit, in order to get the timer to function properly, otherwise the switch operates erratically, as you've experienced

With an Intermatic brand timer, the jumper is included with the timer switch, usually it will be a small, about 2-3 inches long wire with fork terminals on each end.

You should have the power turned off before installing the jumper. Also, there is a distance limit (75-80 feet of wiring) as to how far apart the two (2) switches can be from one another, in order for the timer to work (with the installed jumper).

Normally, the travelers are one the same side of a 3-way switch, but you can use a voltage detector to confirm which wires are which (prior to turning off the power) to make installing the jumper easier. If you contact the manufacturer of your particular timer, they can email you a owners guide/installation pamphlet that shows the proper installation procedures for your timer switch.

If want, you can use the link below to contact Intermatic to get a spare users guide for your particular timer.
